This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Idrius Elba is going to be a kick ass gunslinger.

Flat unispired and YA?

Well shit.  Not what I am looking for.  Might rent it.

I haven't heard much good either,  ow that it is out.  Still have hope for It, though.  I understand that It will be two movies, one with the kids and one with them grown up

So hollowwood hasn't learned a thing about telling moving stories, but they have learned, thanks to Peter Jackson I presume, how to milk the everloving shit out of previously successful intellectual properties?
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Could be.  The first movie alone is longer than the whole miniseries after all.  I think the basic idea has some merit, but as much as I think I'd like the first movie (Apparently also titled "It Part I: The Loser's Club.), I'm not sure how well they'll pull off a pair of movies.

Although I've also read that scenes cut from the first movie might make it into the second as flashbacks.

In terms of It I think breaking it into the kids and adult section could work. It would take a really talented director and editor to get the crosscuts between those eras working and also keep the film a reasonable length. I saw several bits in the trailer that are familiar from the book, the opening scene is a humdinger. The scene with the refridgerator in the junkyard is one of the most horrifying, I wonder how much of that they will keep.

The adult sequence has some of the most disturbing imagery I think: the gay bashing with Pennywise under the bridge, the vampire in the library, Beverly's encounter with the old woman, etc.

It's too bad they'll only hint at the historical flashbacks as they would clearly make the film very unwieldy but also have some of the best parts of the book for me: the murder of the gangsters and the burning down of the juke joint.

Ok, we're talking about the clown movie now.  I was really confused for a bit.

Idrius is good but not given much to do besides infodump exposition. The kid is the only one given something to do actingwise.

Talk gaming or talk to someone else.

But was he kick ass?

I could have told you it sucked. When the producers and director has no respect for the source material rarely works out.

I didn't go in with high expectations either but the film underwhelmed even then. I think Idrius was his usual excellent self and makes a fine Gunslinger. The idea of his and Matthew switching roles would have been more interesting though.

Semi-Tangential but still related.
