This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Sword and Caravan inspirational reading/listening
« on: November 12, 2022, 02:34:35 PM »
Today I read through the "Chronology of the Silk Road" section in Sword amd Caravan. There's a lot of fascinating events in there that I'd like more details on. Can anyone recommend a podcast or audiobook that covers a similar time span?

Non-audio books are also of interest,  both fictional and historical.

Judging by the number of views on this thread and the lack of replies it seems like there's some interest, so I'll post what I find here.

So far, I'm about halfway through this novel:

It focuses on the siege of Acre and does a good job describing the horrible conditions in a siege camp that's low on supplies and surrounded by enemy troops.  I haven't started on any non-fiction histories yet.
