I'm already in the newspaper industry. Good luck to you. When you do get in, you will either love it or hate it. There is no in between.

I may be getting into it myself.

I wrote an angry letter to the editor about a recent restaurant review, and in the ensuing exchange wound up getting an offer for a monthly column.

We'll see how the negotiations go.

So I finally got an email back from the editor.  Loosk like he's still interested, and I've somehow managed to volunteer myself into doing some kind of profile on a local chef.
