This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So I Picked Up "In The Name of the King"...

I suppose she is easy on the eyes if you are into that type, I personally never saw the appeal, being a pika and all.   Once you get past the Glamour (or are immune to it... see above...) she's as wooden as a bench.  She's only a natural if its a zombie movie and she's the zombie...

A pretty zombie, yes.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

I fucking LOVE Uwe Boll films.

Once the Cat-Ninja's dropped out of the trees in the middle of the fight between the Orcs and the Knights I was out of my seat and cheering.

I also recommend UB's Postal. It ha something offensive and something funny in it for everyone!

I was going to point out that I'd seen all of Uwe's films, but I forgot Postal... just missed it utterly, forgot it existed and so forth.  Damnit, now I gotta track it down to complete the set!

They are still utter ass...

Ugh, Uwe Boll movies.  I hate 'em, thought not because they suck (which they do) but because I can't find the same fun watching them as I used to when purposefully watching shitty movies.

Man... I actually LOVED "In the name...". Part of it was due to the subtitling. Someone gave me this cheap-ass VCD thing, original audio but Spanish subtitles... dude, I swear I was watching two flicks at once. And yeah, you've got to love that Statham, The. I totally based the look of my current Amber character in that Farmer dude minus boomerang.

Krull is fucking amazing. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't get it. It's just pure gold. James Horner soundtrack, Freddie Jones, Glaives, Firemares, Cyclops, Slayers, things exploding upwards, Firemares, giant spider, the Fortress set, Firemares, everything about it is exactly what moviemaking should be - and it isn't derivative of some book or other film.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I feel the same way about Hawk the Slayer.....and I don't think this is a good thing :D

Hell yes.

In the Name of the King is Boll's most capable film, which, ironically, makes it the most boring. I enjoy bad movies from time to time, and BloodRayne is one of the most WTF-worthy bad movies ever. Forget Statham... BloodRayne had a vampire lord played by Meat Loaf.

And real hungarian hookers because they were cheaper than no-name actresses...

Well "in the Name..." is certainly no Dungeons & Dragons...oh wait it may as well have been. I'm just trying to remember if it included a Wayans as well.

I found In the Name of the King hilarious, but I was watching it with friends and booze present. That helps. A lot.

My favourite bit is where there's the battle in the forest, and the orcs have brought their big old siege catapults along (already you can see the problem, yes?) and one of the orcs sits in in one of the catapults and gesticulates wildly at the other orcs, who obediently set him on fire and shoot him at the enemy. At which point, of course, he smacks face-first into a tree because they're in a forest. And then a whole bunch of other orcs do it.

Fun fact: the only other film (that I'm aware of) where Jason Statham is the protagonist and Ray Liotta is the villain is Revolver by Guy Ritchie. That's also so-bad-it's-good...
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

I didn't hate the movie but I can't say I liked it either (it might have something to do with seeing it on Showtime rather than paying for it).  It didn't have the worst production values but I had a hard time with the whole "farmer is a martial arts ass-kicker with no apparent training who just happened to have been abandoned on the battlefield by the King as a boy and then rescued by the dude from Beauty and the Beast" plot.  I saw Bloodrayne and felt about the same way and I watched 5 minutes of Bloodrayne 2 and had to turn it off.

Speaking of Uwe Boll though, did anyone see Jamie Kennedy's movie "Heckler".  I also saw it on Showtime recently (I was surfing for something with nudity and/or violence and happened upon it) and IIRC Uwe Boll challenged several critics of his movie to a boxing match and kicked all of their asses simultaneously (unless there was serious editing involved).  One dude was throwing up in the parking lot afterward.

On second thought.....I loved "In the Name of the King".....
