This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I am sorry I never got to know this person.

I had only heard of them by going on rpg.net and hearing that they had passed away.

sounds like an interesting person to know

You know, I hit this same feeling sometimes in my work...I'm a historian, y'know.

Tetsujin28, as I knew him, since I only knew him online, was an awesome poster for a lurker like me to read.  I never had a chance to know him better, or post in response to a lot of his stuff.  But if it matters in anything, he was a good man online!

Even though I never knew him, he touched my life with his acerbic wit and...strong coffeeness.  Good description, Ian.

The problem that I run into is he was gone before I got there.  So I have only seen a few of his posts.

It sounds like I missed talking to a really good person.

Sad.

He had his flaws, lol, but never tried to hide them,
He was a part of the our community, I would find the lose of others equaly upsetting,

But hey, he got a book dedication to him (that being the outstanding SotC)

Hey, we all have our flaws.  His death does seem like a loss for the community.

That's cool.   Is there any specific reason why he got that book dedicated to him?  Was he part of the game design process or was he simply friends with the author(s)?

I can understand that to some extent.  But when I write Shannon Appelcine -- who used to work for Chaosium, and is now an RPG.net mod -- and say "Hey, here's the deal, if you don't beleive me, you can call Greg Stafford and he'll be my character reference."

And they still don't beleive me...

Fuck 'em.

Yeah, that's pretty fucking ridiculous.  I don't blame you one iota.

Yeah, it was really lame.  I mean, here we are behind the scenes talking with close friends of Brit's, trying to get in touch with his parents to send condolence cards, etc. and the RPG.net mods don't even beleive us.  Whatever.

Britt was a very enthusiastic fan of FATE, and did a superb job of pimping it on RPG.net. Actually, my online friendship with him started after checking FATE due to his enthusiasm, and sending him a PM thanking him for the advice.
I'm going to have a beer on his name right now.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).
