SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I finally grokked Dominus Nox

His internet persona is a martyr.
He desperately needs to create antagonism in subjects of import to North Americans.

In his own eyes, he´s the hero, who sees through all the bullshit.
The only one with the sunglasses.

So every time anyone opposes him, his political/intellectual martyrdom is supported.

Once again one more data point for letting him feel special and enlightened.

So fighting his bullshit only strengthens him. He does not want to convince, he wants to be the lone rebel in a sea of brainwashed enemy-lovers and peer group haters. I´m not in the position to fathom what makes him behave that way. But it definitely is nothing anyone should feed.

I post in criticism of his racist crap only so as to avoid the impression that this is a site which tacitly or overtly supports such comments, I don't do it to persuade him.

It's important we say each time that those comments are not ok, otherwise we risk attracting more people with such views and deterring those who might otherwise think we support that sort of thing.

Or put another way, Who's trying to convince Nox?

I think that we should at least try to break through  the crust of 'righteous fatboy victim' that Nox has.One day he might be reasonable enough to see that his going from one extreme to another makes him look a complete fool and reinforces peoples perceptions of him as ignorant and immature.

So atheists have been abused, treated badly by clergy or they\'re stupid.They\'re just being trendy because they can\'t understand The God Delusion because they don\'t have the education, plus they\'re just pretending to be atheists anyway. Pundit you\'re the one with a problem, terminal stupidity.

Respond to behaviours, not perceived motivations for those behaviours; respond to what they do, not what you think causes them to do it.

I wouldn't step into Nox's mind. If I wanted to dive down drains I'd join an urban exploration group.

All wisecrackey today, JimBob?

If I were to respond to your behaviour instead of your intent, than I might not be talking to you at all any more. Might even go both ways.

See, I´m not saying I know what drives the real person behind Nox. But his internet Persona has a pretty predictable template, which can be summed up like above.

@others: Oh, I see, maybe I got you wrong. But I´ve seen several threads, where it´s not only a declaration of dissent, but actual and detailed discussion. So I got the impression people wanted to "prove" him wrong. And I think it´s no need, as he has the special ray-bans, and everyone else hasn´t. So our opinions only serve to confirm the powers of his sunglasses.

And I don´t think he´s racist in any real sense. I think he´s just seen "teh truth!".
He looks more like a conspiracy guy than anything else. Well, at least I made up my mind, YMMV.

Mr. Analytical

I think he's just a stupid and irritating piece of shit, but I respect his tenacity, I dread to think what his homelife must be like if he logs on to a site where everyone hates him "for fun".

I have been thinking along these lines for a while, as well.  For whatever reason Nox seems to need to be reviled, and gets a kick out of it.  Every time he gets banned from a forum he just points to it as yet another example of how the truthteller is hated and how he is so put upon.  I suspect that this site both gratifies him (as he gets to dance for attention every day) and irritates him (he is being denied the climactic final act of banning to reinforce his martyrdom).

Of course these are all just guesses, but I have seen the same behavior before.  In the end, it is just the nature of the Internet, where anonymity can make us act out in ways we would never dare in face to face conversation.
