This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think the first new SW movie had potential. I was actually hoping that Fin would turn out to be a potential Jedi.

But nooooo. China hates them some niggers so of course not. Disney execs must get friction burns licking China's jackboots so hard.

I found it mostly boring, with a few glimmers of potential. But when they bumped off Han for cheap drama, and dumped his ass down a reactor shaft, I knew the sequels were headed in a bad direction.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Han's death didn't bother me because I figured that it was the price to pay to get Harrison Ford on board. The Force Awakens came across very much as 'cotton candy'--fun but not very substantial. I figured 'OK, Disney needed to do something familiar to show people they can do Star Wars and erase the taste of the Prequels; let's see if there's something more interesting going forward. There's some stuff there that could turn out well, and some stuff that could go really wrong.' But then I started picking up on the cynical undercurrents in the spinoff material and even some deleted scenes and novelization elements of TFA, Rogue One left me strangely cold, and The Last Jedi pretty much convinced me that I'm not a Star Wars fan as presently defined. :)

I've been hearing Kathleen Kennedy is gone since The Last Jedi was released in 2017. So we're 6 years on waiting for KkK's pink slip.

It's obvious that no amount of losing money or alienating fans will stop them.

Yeah. There's a ton of commenters on youtube stirring shit up just for clicks. They'll repeat the most insubstantial rumors.
Mostly you can tell them by the video preview image has character with ridiculously exaggerated eyes. Dunno why that became a thing, but It makes it easier to filter out junk commentary.
