The rumor I heard was that Kathleen Kennedy was going to get her big sendoff at Star Wars Celebration, but that doesn't seem to have happened.

So, how many Star Wars movies have they announced since the end of the sequel trilogy, and how many have made it into production?

Announced:

  • Phil Lord and Chris Miller Han Solo movie
  • Colin Trevorrow movie "Duel of the Fates"
  • David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones creators) Star Wars movie
  • Josh Trank/James Mangold Boba Fett movie
  • Obi-Wan movie/trilogy, eventually became the Kenobi streaming series
  • Rian Johnson movie trilogy
  • Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron movie
  • Tiaka Waititi Star Wars movie

Actually Filmed and Released:

I would say that the odds are against any of this week's announced movies actually getting made.

Dave Filoni's paid his dues, but the movie they are announcing would seem to be the end of the streaming series that he has worked on with Jon Favreau.

Dude, Bob Iger is back in control, everything woke was green lighted under his reign. What's amazing (and sad) is that Disney, WB, BBC managed to do what decades couldn't, make me stop caring about their IPs.

Right now I'm laughing and wishing they go ahead full steam with all that was announced and even the rumor that Rey is pregnant (without a man in sight) because they need to subvert Anakin being the chosen one.

I stopped caring about the Star Wars IP with the second prequel. I didn't bother seeing Episode III until I saw it on a plane many years later.

That said, there have been some Star Wars releases I still enjoyed since then. I liked the Rogue One movie. The Mandalorian along with the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett series are pretty good. For me, they are outshone by the Andor series, which I am loving so far - though I'm still in the middle of it.

I hated the prequels, something Disney managed to change too, they are 1 Billion times better than Disney Wars.

The Mandalborian, Obi-Wan and Boba Fett. Two of those humiliated an OT character and the first one just did the same with it's titular (male) character.

It's clear I'm no longer the target audience, that's fine, it's their IP and they can do whatever with it. In exchange I get to keep my money in my wallet.

His OC donut has been elevated from dead to having her own dedicated series. He controls the cannon now. He can have her be as good as Luke, and have her be the true Jedi inheritor even as luke ends up a failure and then dead.

well, maybe i'm just too big of a Star Wars fan, hoping against hope that something could still be done to save it. i'm not looking forward to anything really, no, but... who knows.

Piracy promotes sales. The EU did massive research for it for videogames and it was buried because it told information people didn't want to hear. You're not a paying customer, but you act as a hype man and a person in the loop. They would rather you hate Star Wars then just not care what they do with it.

The Prequels had an interesting and coherent story to tell. The problem was that, back then, a story was the minimum that audiences expected. We paid for such stories to be told well - and George Lucas stumbled badly in this.

Today it is a miracle if we get something that goes from point A to point B. I actually waited two years wondering how the story of Rey and Luke was going to continue. When I saw Luke toss away the lightsaber (something that isn't even in emotional continuity with the end of TFA) I knew that Star Wars was doomed (the best comment on TLJ came from my girlfriend: "I'm not sure that they sent out the right version of the movie...")

I think the first new SW movie had potential. I was actually hoping that Fin would turn out to be a potential Jedi.

But nooooo. China hates them some niggers so of course not. Disney execs must get friction burns licking China's jackboots so hard.
