Title: Reaction from the 'Irish Times' on leprchaun stereo types in the Ring of Power.
Post by: Rob Necronomicon on September 22, 2022, 08:34:10 AM
From the article: "Rings of Power: The new hobbits are filthy, hungry simpletons with stage-Irish accents. That's $1bn well spent"

https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/tv-radio/2022/08/31/rings-of-power-the-new-hobbits-are-filthy-hungry-simpletons-with-stage-irish-accents-thats-1bn-well-spent/

Erm... Does anyone else smell the irony here?? LOL

I think I might have some Irish ancestry. Distantly. In which case I also take offence in show of solidarity to my distant Irish brethren.

Ta' buddy.  ;D

I just find it so deliciously ironic that these poncey showrunners tried to be so politically correct and yet they fall flat on their faces while trying so hard (and they also were called out for other accents too).

And it's even funnier because it was picked up by the Irish Times which is a well-respected newspaper and one of the biggest we have here. LOL

St Patricks Day and Cinco DeMayo did massive public relations work that Italians could never match with Columbus Day being a non-drinking holiday.

For me, Columbus Day wins hand down.

I don't require a special occasion to drink and Columbus Day is always a paid day off.

Viva Italia, baby.

Hey, not gonna argue that one - two days off beats one day off!

Making me hungry, too. I'm gonna murder a fajita tonight I think.
