SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It's interesting that these forums have been around in some form since 2001. It's also interesting to see who is still here.

Nicephorus, seems to be the oldest memeber still active (2-28-2006).

Round out the ten oldest members by join date.

Mine is in June of that year. Not as old as some, but well before the change over and the arrival of the first refugees. There are several posters from that era that I wish were still around.

Yeah, there are a few from that time that I wish were still here as well but it pretty cool how many of the founding members are still here. I don't think the Big Purple or ENWorld could beat our rate, but they are much older,

I arrived around September.

Yeah, it would also be cool if some who left decided to rejoin us again.

Edit: Well it seem I joined in April.

I joined that April as well.  As I recall there was a big influx of new users at that time, and it was a big adjustment for both the newcomers and the Nutkinland regulars.

I remember both of you being here when I arrived, actually. The sadness that is the "Pistols  at Dawn" thread began about that time too, I think. Anyone remember Cantankerous Saltbeard? He was an awesome troll.

Yeah CS was pretty good. Much later on came Blackhand and the whole 40K clusterfuck. We do seem to draw them in.

I was August of 2006 - hell, I'm coming up on my two year "anniversary" of posting in this hell hole.

But, to be perfectly clear, I was not a refugee from tBP. I never posted there*, and only lurked briefly. I started here because it was evident from the unquestionable wit and character of the posters here that this was the place to be.

No, I have not found those marbles.

*Edit to add: as far as I know. I did find a registration, but I'm not sure if I ever posted there. If so, it was of no consequence (not that anything I've posted here is of any consequence).

I'm April 2006.  If I remember correctly, the Nutkinland IDs were erased and we had to reregister.  I had posted there a little, too.  I apparently really pushed the moderators' buttons when, in a discussion of moderation, I said that I preferred no moderation or the ENWorld approach (the "grandmother standard") to either the RPGnet approach or Nutkinland approach.

The mods were pretty sensitive about that shit. They talked quite a bit about banning, which is funny considering how slow the site was in those days*. Pooka would ban people on nothingland (next to last version) just for disagreeing with him**. I think he did the same here. He was also prone to all sorts of other power abuse and genral jackassery. Beyond that, there was a real cliquishness going on; it was like band camp gone wrong and, was, imo, several magnitudes worse than anything we have here now. Most of those posters went away, or just to nothingland until it was euthinized, and from there to Circvs Maximus where many of them still are. Many of them are cool people in their own right, though.

* Thank goodness for the refugees, they brought some much needed energy with them.
**or, as in my case, for making fun of him.

God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.

Yeah, I posted on Nutkinland for a while as well. I didn't really like the place but when I came back for the RPG Site I had to re-register.

I also posted on Nutkinland. I didn;t like it much either. But my reigstation date is later than yours. I may have been out of circulation for a while (I was working full time and going to school full time during that period, and my well have stayed off the internet for monhs at a time).
