Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Call it the American Civil War in front of the average American and the response it likely to be "was there another one?"

Quote from: jcfialaActually, "American Revolution" is pretty much what we call it here too.

It's what we used to call it. Almost exclusively now it's called the War of Independence or the American War of Independence in history circles - i.e. academia, popular history books, history channel, etc. This is most probably because it wasn't technically a revolution at all.

Quote from: BalbinusHm, fair enough.

Come to think of it, you chaps probably just call the American Civil War the Civil War.

In Britain curiously the English Civil War is called just that, possibly because it predates Britain (as a political entity), possibly to avoid confusion with the American Civil War which many people here are still very interested in (though not to the degree in the US obviously, at the end of the day it's not actually our history after all).

Cavaliers and roundheads anyone? That would be a fun period for an In Harm's Way game! Can you recommend any historical fiction set in the period, Balbinus?
