Two days ago, I was in the local JC Penny, and the in-store system started playing this song. Before I know it, I'm happy and smiling, carefree even. I'm a little kid again and it's nice, but why do I even know this song? I really don't like the rest of this group's music, and I don't it's one of their more known songs, but the damage has been done. This morning I grab the song on iTunes and I still really like it.
The song you ask?
Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
What.
The.
Hell!?
Well, as far as guilty pleasures go, that's pretty tame.
I was hoping for something more along the lines of, say, "I secretly masturbate to pictures of rare skin diseases while wearing women's panties when I'm in the local library."
I mean, if you've got a guilty pleasure, go big with it. Dig?
Yeah, Ace of Base or ABBA or Modern Talking are more like guilty pleasures. Nobody's going to laugh at you for liking a Fleetwood Mac song.
Oddly I can't remember Everywhere. Just checked it out on Youtube, it's a nice song.
We somehow ended up with the "oldies" commercial radio station on in the house, and my wife caught me singing along to maybe a quarter of the songs. Fuckin' Billy Joel.
!i!
"Still Rock and Roll to You", eh?
Bad Ian!
No, no. Worse. "Uptown Girl".
Right about now, Danger's suggested guilty pleasure doesn't sound like such a bad cop.

My idol would hate more for this, but I really do like "Piano Man".
"Uptown Girl" though. Shit man. You may as well just end it now, there's no hope left for you.

It sounds like Saturday to me...
Wait...did I hit send?
Captain Jack will get you high tonight...
Brenda (pronounced "Brender") and Eddie were the popular steadies...
She cuts you once, she cuts you twice..
C'mon - you gotta give Mr. Joel some props.
Granted, I'm with J Arcane on the Uptown Girl singalong...
Hey Billy Joel bat a solid .500 in the 80s, which is as good as you can get in the music world. Except for U2. U2 in the 80s was awesome.

Thats understandable.
Joel has had a TON of hits played on the radio over the past 35 years.
Heck, yesterday I was accidentally filking the title of one of Rotwang's thread's to the tune of "Piano Man" .
Gotta imagine it :
"Bu-Ring me the head of Oh Dee and Dee 'cuz I gotta the need to game tonight!"
" La,. la...la-la.......la 'la...."
You get the idea.
- Ed C.
Last time I admitted to a guilty pleasure here, Abyssal Maw made friends with me. I won't be making that mistake again!

...dude...
I am
totally in the wrong line a'work.
Oh, and James? No guilt, no shame in diggin' on The 'Mac. I'm rather fond of "Hold Me" and most of
Tango In The Night, because it's all
good stuff. So...
Sorry, mah brutha, but that is
not a guilty pleasure. Please enjoy responsibly.
And for that matter neither is liking
Xanadu.

My wife talked me into seeing Billy Joel and Elton John at Madison Square Garden. It was the last show Billy Joel did before canceling out of the tour because of an illness and let's just say that for the time he was out on stage (not all of it) he sounded quite medicated, ranting about what a rip-off Madison Square Garden and so on. It was the worst concert I ever went to, in my opinion.
But on the guilty pleasure front, my wife also talked me into seeing Neil Diamond at Madison Square Garden. That concert I really enjoyed.
Musicwise, I like ABBA.
'Nuff said.
Oh please, you fuckers are lightweight. I listen to the damn soundtrack of Grease 2....often.

Michelle Pfeifer is a an okay singer.
That one is understandable...especially if you like hearing her sing about a "Cool Rider".

I've got Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" in my 1970s folder on iTunes. I went out of my way to track it down and buy it because it's the #1 hit from the 1970s that nobody wants to remember despite the fact that it was the top song of 1977, spent 10 weeks at #1, sold 5 million copies, earned and Oscar (in 1978 for Best Song -- none of the eligible songs from Saturday Night Fever were even nominated) and two Grammy Awards (Song of the Year and Best New Artist), and it was nearly impossible to turn on a radio without hearing it. It's as if society collectively decided that they had lost it's mind in retrospect and tried to forget the whole thing happened.
Video here (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2h37s_debby-boone-you-light-up-my-life_music). Don't send me the bills for the therapist. :D
There are songs you MUST sing along to. You can not help yourself. If you were alive in the 80s, Billy Joel will have several. Carry on.
haha, I know a song Droog likes!
I love the Carpenters in general.
Rainy Days and Mondays is great. Although my favorite is Superstar, and I really really like Close to You as well.
This thread is starting to head into Poison'd territory!
I like the theme song to Gilmore Girls. And Enterprise.

The Theme to
Enterprise was kind of cool.
In 2001-2002 I had a really boring job at the mall - when that song came on over the Mall Muzak it always cheered me up and lifted my spirits.
(Mall had piped in music WITH lyrics and the original versions and singers of all the songs. ) - Ed C.

Outed!
Since I'm here, I might as well mention that I have a very soft spot for 'Landslide' by Fleetwood Mac (that Smashing Pumpkins version is a bit naff).
for years I scoffed at them in front of my punk friends, but as it turns out I like Nirvana- pretty much every song.
Does that count?
I also like Staying Alive by the BGs.
Quote from: AosI also like Staying Alive by the BGs.
Well that one makes sense.
Its a good song - no reason to feel guilty about it.

As a classic, pre-girly Mac fan, I used to feel the same - if it didnt have Peter Green or Danny Kirwan bleeding their LSD inflamed heart out over a Stratocaster it just wasnt right.
Then I remembered that girly Mac made the awesomeness that is The Chain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtmtjDOsv18).
I didn't realise I had much of a guilty pleasure until this morning when asking one of my contemparies at work if he perchance had the long awaited Broken English CD before I ordered one off Amazon, and in the ensuing discussion I mentioned the last CD I brought was Maroon Five, or possibly Anastacia. The look of shock on his face told me that until that moment I'd successfully concealed my love of generic pop under a coating of raw, bluesy rock.

Everyone in the band contributed to that song. VH1 had a show about the album and had a guy on who explained all of the parts and how they fit together, using a sound board and tapes of each track. It was pretty cool.
For non-Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, check out the song "Gold" by John Stewart (who recently passed away).

"Fleetwood Mac. That's such an older brother album. Everyone had RUMORS. I think if you lived in the seventies you were issued it. It came in the mail like those free samples of detergent." -Mike Meyers.
I love Fleetwood Mac.
