This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm just listening to a guy called Tom Vek. My friend Clive put me on to him.

May I encourage you to listen to Battles?

They make music and videos like Atlas and Tonto.

I endorse this band and their music.

Cheers

I thought the opening post just limited us to posating BANDS. Some of you guys are mentioning individual performers that have appeared with different backing bands over the years.
IF I had known I could do that my list would be a little bit different......

Oh yeah I also like :

Roxette

ABC

Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Pet Shop Boys...

Tin Machine

The Cure

Nine Inch Nails

Spinachcat

WASP, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Iced Earth, Rob Zombie, Judas Priest, Metallica and I have gotten into some euro-metal like Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and Sabaton.

The best thing I have discovered for finding new music has been Pandora which matches your favs with stuff like your favs that you may never have heard before.

Other than metal, my music tastes focus on movie soundtracks.

Venosha

I listen to a wide varitey of music.  My current mood is closer to:
They Might Be Giants
NIN
Coheed and Cambria
Duran, Duran
Cake
and anything 80's...

Next week I think Iwill switch to some good old classic rock!
1,150 things Mr. Welch can no longer do during an RPG

390. My character\'s background must be more indepth than a montage of Queen lyrics.

629. Just because they are all into rock, metal and axes, dwarves are not all headbangers.

702. The Banana of Disarming is not a real magic item.

1059. Even if the villain is Lawful Evil, slapping a cease and desist order on him isn't going to work

Engine

I have a certain affection for this guy's music, to perhaps no-one's surprise.

Well, I revisited Closer, and there's no question it's a great album, but I still think New Order had their own moments of genius.

Quote from: droog;250329So what now? Do we talk about the music or just think privately about how much better ours are?

I don't really know about you people, but I'm taking notes.
God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.

Metallica (before they were douchbags)
Velvet Revolver
Stone Temple Pilots

Danzig
Motorhead
Ozzy

The list could go on and on :) , and my Sirius radio is almost always tuned to Octane.

I haven't heard In Extremo in forever!  Gonna have to dig through some boxes for that CD.

My current favorites are (in no particular order):

Killwhitneydead
Simple raw lyrics, their most recent albums branch out from hate and violence to include sex.  Fast shred heavy songs that I can drive or party to.  Great post break up music too as long as you don't take the music too literally.

Every Time I Die
Tastes like rock and roll but feels like heavy metal.  What's not to love?

Acid Bath
Dax's vocals are amazing and unique.  They offer a little something for everyone who likes their music dark, brooding, and heavy in equal parts.

Opeth
Epic songs with amazing vocals.

Reggie and the Full Effect
I'm not really sure why I like this band's later two albums.  I just do.  They're pretty wide as far as style not really sticking to one particular genre.  The music video for J Train is hilarious though.  Frankenstein and Wolf-man take Dracula to strip club for his bachelor party.   Lots of great little gags in it, including a Monster Squad reference.

The Demonstration
A really solid american southern metal act.

Jonin
For people who like metal without the growling vocals.  Very power metal in the way they play their music and Stu's vocals are quite good.

Wu-Tang Clan
Still love their early stuff quite a bit.

I won't just rattle off a list of my personal faves to impress the rest of you, but I will mention a CD to which I listened very recently.

Andorra, by Caribou
Caribou is an Ontarion by the name of Dan Snaith who is typically known for his electronica sound.  Some months back I was in a record store and they put on this freaky new album that sounded much more psychedelic than anything I was expecting that rainy night.  The first track, “Melody Day” delivers a one-two combination to the midsection from the first chord with tube chimes and fuzz guitar, followed hard with the driving drone of “Sandy”.  To put it succinctly, this whole album is groovy.

Any of you guys got YouTube links for these lesser known bands?

That way we can sample them and see if we like the bands enough to grab a CD or download.
