This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I have tried Royksopp, Rammstein, The Monkees, Wang Chung, Men Without Hats and even Enigma but somehow, Earth, Wind & Fire is the music that gets me writing and in the mood for Zombipocalypse.

There is nothing wrong with Earth, Wind & Fire!  At least not before 1979, and then you have to start pickin' and choosin'.

A week or two ago I was listening to a radio story about "Afro-Futurism," a trend in black American music that emphasises an optimistic, futuristic theme that funky African aliens will come to Earth to lift the oppressed peoples out of their misery, but you have to be positive and optimistic to bring them here.  The story focused on Sun-Ra, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins & Parliament, but I was disappointed that it didn't once mention EWF.  Particularly with the album art on the covers of All 'n' All and I Am, there was this crazy amalgam of the ancient Egyptians (Upper Nile Nubians, mind you) and technology of the future.

Let's face it, these dudes, as depicted in their album art, were colorful, mystical, love-spreadin' superheroes.  They were the power of the Egyptians channeled through time and space to save humanity.

I can totally dig why their music inspires your crazy riff on zombification.

That's okay, man.  I listen to a wide variety of shit, some good, mostly bad.  For whatever reason I did some of my finest writing, all surreal dreamscape shit mind you... not my normal stuff, while heavily under the influence of Evanesence, a bad I have since grown heartily sickof, despite my unrequited love of Amy Lee's voice.

Never mind that the same music doesn't inspire jack these days, but Mudvayne, a radically different band, does... Y'never know where it'll come from.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Here's what I was talking about earlier...

Now listen to "Fantasy" from the album All 'n' All.  It's a superhero song.  They're, like, kung-fu masters of love and harmony and righteousness.

By the way, in a weird coincidence, later the same day after my previous post, I came across the National Geographic issue dealing with the Upper Nile at my veterinarian's office.  Synchronicity.

I could never write anything to this album...

[this, of course, is a joke. It's a proven fact that I can't write regardless of the music playing]
