If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A forum for 3e grognards?

So, since ENWorld seems to have jumped on the 4e bandwagon faster than a cheap hooker on a 50 dollar bill, do you think we'll see a 3e-centered forum in the wake of 4e, especially with so much of the design philosophy seemingly hostile to it?  

I've never been a big fan of game-specific forums, so in all likelihood it won't affect me one whit, but it would be a nice resource if it does happen for those of us who're uninterested in the new edition.

I'm creating one, J.  Serioulsy.  I'm new to running a site, so I'm getting it set up.  Feel free to provide input if you like.

If Wizards has any brains at all, they'll have a forum for 3e (just like they have forums for old D&D game worlds they've never done anything with, like Mystara).

And just to be clear, totally not in competition with TheRPGSite.  I just saw a lot of people who are really thinking they might stay with 3.5, and then a lot of Living Greyhawk folks who are pissed. And the the rebuff from DF cause they weren't pre 3.0...it was interesting.

So, we'll give it a shot at givng them a place like DF.

And one of the forums will be for Living Dunfalcon...

I think that making forums about specific subjects (ie. a forum for D20/3e fans exclusively dealing with that topic) is obviously not "trying to be in competition with theRPGsite", unlike other fora that are advertised as "just like theRPGsite but without the Pundit" or whatever.

I certainly think there could be a place for a forum like this, and if you promote it right you might manage to succeed with it.

Well, if anyone is interested, it's up and running.  I'll be adding more templates later, but i went with a simple one to start.

So - stop on by and take a look around.  I'll be happy to hear any critique about the forum strucuture, colors, issues, etc.

It's //www.d20haven.com/forums for now.  I'll be setting up more functionality in the near future - but the forums are up and running.

Very nice! Since I'm working with 3.0 for my Old School Campaign this seems like a good place for me to hang out - in addition to here, of course.

I'd like to help with Dunfalcon. Once I get home and respond to my verification email I'll post accordingly.

Sweet!  I'm getting it all synched up so the domain default page looks like this theme. The basics of navigation seem to be working (finally!).

So now it's on to finding those old maps I made years ago and seeing what materials I've got at hand to start Dunfalcon.  I'm thinking of either seeing if there's wiki software available to offer as part of the overall site and using that for Dunfalcon, or just going with the public wiki....

Can't wait to see you all over there!

(and as you can see, I won't let you all off that easily - I'll still be ranting like the grumpy old man I've become...)
