This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Here's a question for people from down under, except jimboboz who I don't want to hear from because he's a scumbag and a coward like his buddy paladin:

I've heard repeatedly that in ww2 australians adapted their cars to run on methane due to oil and gas shortages. Is this true and if so how was it done and how was the methane produced?

The way the gas situation is now this tech, if it existed, should be looked at carefully.

I would only change this to read something more akin to...

"Even though gas is very cheap right now, we really should be preparing for the long term and this seems to be an interesting possibility."

I mean, gas is $2.00 a gallon in the US. It's not risen dramatically since the election as certain quarters suggest in hushed conspiritorial tones.

But it's better to think about these things when you have the luxury of not being nailed by $3.50 a gallon prices.

Since no one made a userful reply I searched fo australian methane powered cars.

After getting hit after hit for the movie "Beyond thunderdome" I finally dropped the ref to Oz and just searched for methane powered cars.

Lookee here: http://www.truehealth.org/volvomethanecars.html

Let's see, they cost a little more than a regular car, but cost 20-60% less to operate than a "petrol" car, methane refills are commonly available in europe and the damn things emit about 25% less greenhouse gas than regular cars. Oh, and methane id a renewable energy source, in fact it could be processed from the tons of pig manure that go untreated in "battery pork farms" that have replace family ran pig farms lately and aren't required to process their pigshit like the family ran ones were.

So why the HELL aren't we seeing these things all over america yet? The slightly higher initial cost would quickly be offset by lower fuel costs, and we could give tax incentives to people who use these. Hey, let's go all the way and make a methane powered hybrid! Damn, that ought to be a car that the planet would just love!

(Sits back and waits for someone to call me bigoted against gasoline poiwered cars. :))

Did you actually just dig up a two month old thread to make a shitty...er, 'witty'...comment in response to a 6 month old quasi-flame?

Go outside. Seriously.

For fuck's sake, Anthrobot. I have NO problem with people doing thread necromancy IF they're going to say something useful that contributes to the topic matter.

What you did here is pretty fucking unconscionable, on the other hand.

Thread closed.
