This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm only halfway through the video, but there should at least be a character called Dangerhair.

Hey, didn't we do a riff on Pathfinder 1.0 last year? Maybe that could be adapted to superheroes.

They read like applications for the West Coast Avengers. You know, the group with Dinah Soar, Big Bertha, Doorman, and that cancer of the marvelverse, Squirrel Girl.

I thought those were the Great Lakes Avengers. Again, not joking...

No it's not a joke

I'm not 100% convinced of that.  It's just TOO spot-on.

"A magical backpack of divine origin" and "experimental internet gas."  Experimental internet gas?!?!

The lead writer is desd serious. He wants to "claim these derogatory words as their own and wear them with pride."

Grade A loon. I hate these fuckers who "Embrace the slur!". Got utterly sick of that over on BGG.

Disney will keep Marvel comics around regardless of them going full retard. The comics division costs nothing and sits atop the IP needed for the MCU movies. As long as they can break even in sales, the management can effectively do no wrong. And remember, part of their sales is cranking out reprints, allowing them to crank out virtue signalling bullshit.

When this line dies, probably before a dozen issues, another even dumber one will launch.

The SJW stupidity hole has no bottom.

Even on tumblr fan-artists are redesigning Trailblazer so that she's either athletic or rubenesque.

Children of the Atom is painfully uncreative. The characters are blatant clones of their mentors without anything to set them apart. The nightcrawler clone, for example, has a mechanical tail to better duplicate Nightcrawler.

For comparison, my most uncreative idea for a comic book superhero team was to make a superhero/boyband team out of horror movie villains. An intentionally silly boyband of monsters-turned-superheroes with names like Kid Dracula, The Wolf-Boy, and Frank N. Stine.

I think you're about 40 years behind the curve there.

Was thinking of that as well. Groovie Ghoulies probably counts too.

But way back in the late 90s DC put out a short lived 12 issue comic series called Scare Tactics about the adventures of a rock band comprised of A hilbilly werewolf, a mutant, a lizard-human gene-mod, and a vampire. Flipped alot between serious and silly.

I figured that somebody had already done that. Surprised it happened thrice.

Still sounds better than Children of the Atom.

I'd actually pay for an issue where Absorbing Man beats the crap out of them, while making fun of them the whole time ... and he doesn't use his powers once.

Theres also the obscure Monster Squad show. Dracula, Werewolf and Frankenstein battle supervillains.

And Frankenstein Jr from wayyyyy back. Yes, he is indeed wearing a mask and cape and can fly...

Not to mentions the old DC serirs for Weird War called Creature Commandos which had 4 people modified into monsters to battle in the war. A Frankenstein, a vampire, a werewolf and later a medusa.

Probably more out there. Its a popular recurring concept.

And somehow still better done than this modern junk.
