This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Kinda Creepy....

So, I was using a friend's account, and checking out TBP's "Tangency Boneyard" -- where they're clearing out old posts, but giving people a chance to "bump" threads for saving -- and I noticed something kinda disturbing.

All of the old 2002 and 2003 threads that featured me fairly heavily as a subject (some of the more infamous ones, but also some fairly innocuous ones as well), were almost all "bumped" by the same guy.....somebody going by "Vuron", who wasn't even a member of the site until well after I left.

That's kinda creepy.    Going around and marking threads for saving that a) you never participated in, and b) were from before you even arrived on the site?   (and that's being generous, and assuming that he's not doing it for the "GMS factor" -- although why he'd have a hardon for me I have NO idea.)

Wow, Tangency creepy, who'd have thought?

I mean yes, much creepier for you I grant, but still, it's Tangency, it gets some creepy folk.

Congrats on the Bas-Lag thing by the way.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this one.

I can't wait for it!

Also, I haven't read Tangency in years, and I'm glad to stay away; I hope you don't have a stalker...

Meh.   Been there, done that, filed the restraining order (a couple of times).

Ditto congrats on Bas-Lag.

Is this the Vuron who used to be a Nutkinland regular back in the day? He didn't strike me as creepy then. Maybe it's just a prank/effort to preserve some Tangency infamy for posterity.

Hmmm...I saw Darren bumped literally bucket loads of threads "for the sake of history" the other day.  Many of those were the 007 Bistromath threads.  Including the one where he was asking what was wrong with the relationship he had with his dog.

Haven't been back to the bone yard since.

I guess in the Garath and Vulron case I'd wonder who Vulron used to be...

Vuron popped up over there some months before I got the banstick, and struck me as someone who really wanted to be part of the clique and made up for his newb status by just dredging up as much of the old days as possible.  So he spent a hell of a lot of time in general talking about a lot of shit he never had anything to do with, and was convincing enough at it that for a while I think there was some suspicion he was somebody's sockpuppet.

Don't take it personally, it largely only has to do with your status as one of the sites more infamous trolls than any specific interest in your person.

Actually my guess would it is somebody who was a member there back in the day but has since been banned.  So they made a new account and kept their nose clean to avoid being spotted.  Many of the old banned brigade have done this over there.

Personally I wouldn't be suprised to see the tang crowd bump every thread to save them all.  Most of them just seem to be that kind of ass.

Since you're here....

I will offer a minor apology* for repeatedly using the joke

when someone asks
"What is GNS?"

replying with
"Gareth-Nichael Skarka.  He used to post here."

(I also asked "What's a Marrativist?" in a thread asking about GMS' history..."

*as in, "I wasn't doing it to embarass you", but not enough to actually stop using a very lame stupid joke to amuse myself.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.
