Joker Movie

Saw it yesterday. I had heard so much talk about it that it was basically as expected. Some really good acting and pretty interesting overall, but a bit slow pacing, and nobody shooting up the theater (sorry, I had to put that in). If you ask me ideally the Joker should have been made to look younger.
But overall pretty good, and more of a psychological drama than a superhero movie. And seriously, the media outrage/"concerns" are retarded beyond words; I have seen plenty of movies with more disturbing violence, and more likeable villains etc.
What did you think?

As a movie about a possibly mentally ill person who finally flips out and does bad things movie. Its well constructed and acted.

As a Joker movie its an abysmal failure. Much akin to the John Carter movie.

It's a Joker movie in the real world, where there's no such thing as a superhero.

What I'm saying is I agree with you, it's not a supervillain movie, has only the name in common with The Joker.

That being said I liked John Carter and also Man of Steel.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

I liked John Carter too. It just wasnt very true to the books and took way way way too many liberties and changes.

It was a cynical, Art movie take on the Joker.
I liked it. Obviously a lot of thought put into it and the ending is very open ended.

I agree, again, it departed too much from the books for a fan like me, but it was a good movie, fun and might help get people into the books.

I frequently work with mentally ill patients, and some of my coworker that have seen Joker say it reminds them of being at work. That's not something I'll pay to see for entertainment

Not really. Too many declared it a "White mans burden" book. When the reality is its a guy going totally native because he was practically born for it. The diametric opposite of the SJW hate screed.
The movie presents him as so utterly wishy-washy and nearly passive through more than half the show, while propping up Deja Thoris a bit and adding in the other changes that things are just to badly presented to inspire many to read the books.

Its not as bad as some other adaptions which occasionally just use the title and not much else. But its not a good book seller. Neither was Starship Troopers really.

To be fair there isn't a Joker in it either. It's still in the realm of fiction even by inspiration.

Lest we forget it was the US military who made a false warning of "incel violence at Joker screenings" in the first place. The moral panic surrounding Joker is overblown, but the right-wing (which the US military is by and large) also had an important role to play in it, too.

I really liked it too. Maybe this is the cynical art-movie take you were thinking of, but it seemed very Christian to me thematically. Batman's got some Christ parallels and this to me seemed like a yin-Christ portrayal of Joker to Batman's yang-Christ. "As you do to the least among you, so you do unto me" and all that.

Not an enjoyable movie to watch, exactly, but excellent.

Going in, the movie theater checked my tiny purse for concealed weapons. lol.

Mordred Pendragon

I loved the new Joker movie.

It was capeshit in name only, and both Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix both outright said they only tied it into DC comics as a way to secure funding for the movie.
