This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I have been burned out on rpg blogs and forums for a little while now but it has come to me that there may be a parallel blogging scene with forums for writers of fantasy or those interested in fantasy fiction but not fantasy gaming. It is easy to assume these pastimes go hand in hand but they don't.

As an example Ive always liked Brian Murphy's occasional fantasy book reviews but I would like to find a writers' scene if one exists.

So Im asking for links you know about to blogs or forums whose concerns are the writing or the reading of fantasy fiction in the absence of gaming discussion. Ta.

Not about Role Playing Games or Gaming. Moved to Pundit's forum. He can decide what to do with this.

Benoist, maybe if you had a job you wouldn't come across like a curtain twitching old maid. You don't think that fantasy gamers would know about fantasy fiction blogs?

Kent,

Try starting a similar thread in "The Lounge" where there is a Media & Inspiration Forum.

I'm interested to see if anyone has something.

You could try that. Just don't cry if Brett shuts down your thread there for not being RPG-inspirational (he's been known to do just that). Your best bet is actually to keep on posting on this thread where it is, FYI. At least until the Pundit decides whether he gives a fuck about it or not.

I think that the hardest part about running a general fantasy/sf board, even one that only covers books, is that there are so many different options. It's kind of hard to find other people who have read the same books, unless they are among the big sellers (Tolkien, Martin, etc).

I've talked to a ton of people who love fantasy, but have never read any urban fantasy whatsoever (my favorite variant).

Take a look at Holly Lisle's site.

http://hollylisle.com/

Is that the sort of site you are looking for or do to want a pure forum?
