This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

... and finds the language extremely offputting.

Quote"Dungeons & Dragons is some of the most crazy, deep, deep, deep nerd shit ever invented," he explains. "Every word you're saying is made up. Motherfuckers talk like Yoda." The language proved difficult enough that the recording was spread out over two days, as opposed to the single afternoon he expected — it took Ice-T three and half hours to get through 25 pages of material. "This shit is impossible to read," he says. It's unclear which book he was reading, or when the audiobook will be available, but it sounds like you'll want to listen to the results either way. "Considering the way music is right now," says Ice-T, "you're better off listening to a book."

That part is right, too. Has there ever been a time in history where music has been so boring/awful? It's like we're living in the 1950s before rock & roll was invented...

Maybe I'm just getting old.

At times I have a hard time figuring out the difference between popular music produced in the late-1990's/early-2000's, and popular music produced today (and over the last several years).  If I didn't know any better, I would have thought popular music has been "frozen in time" over the last 15+ years.

A better question is:  Do teenagers today even identify with popular music at all?

Of course the net result of this is that in my next fantasy game everyone is going to talk like a rapper. Fuck this Shakespeare shit.
Next mission persuade Tarantino to make a Dungeons and Dragon movie starting Ice-T, Jamie Foxx and RZA. Samuel L can play the necromancing wizard motherfucker.

I feel very lucky having been in my teens and early 20s from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. One of the best periods of music in rock history.

I suspect this may vary quite significantly from person to person.

When I was preteen/teenager, I was listening to the worst possible crap:  disco music.  A few years afterward, I was listening to a lot of godawful hairspray metal.  :pundit:
