This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've met a few folks.  Mostly through forums that were very setting or system specific.  Met a ton through some of the old Kult boards back in the day.  Also met a few on a forum that is set up for gamers in a specific area.

But I don't think I've met anyone on a big board like rpgnet, this one or any other.

I met Bill (Hinter) and Pete (formerly Moriarty) at a Game day in Mt Prospect. As far as I know, I've not met anyone else.

GenCon next year might change that as I'll be expected to kidnap Doc! and I hope to find a way to get in some gaming with folks like Zachary, AM, Clash, Hinter and all the other lucky bastards I had hoped to meet last this year.

I always thought it was weird that I actually worked, for a time, at the same institution as Ron Edwards - even did some IT work for the specific college to which he belonged if I'm not mistaken, but never , as far as I know, crossed paths with him. Then again, it was during my break from gaming and gaming related things, so I was unaware.

I've met Balbinus in London and Madrid. He's as cool IRL as he's here :) I intend to meet as many of you as possible. This place has a lot of cool people hanging around.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

The poll has exclusive results, when it seems like there should be multiple results.  i.e. I've met people through forums, but I've also known people beforehand who post in forums.

Around these parts, I knew Elliot mainly from a period of face-to-face gaming before encountering him on theRPGsite.  (Though he connected with our group through the Harn forums, as I recall.)

Yep, however we also interacted at least obliquely through rec.games.frp.advocacy back in the day.

In fact, nearly all my current gamer contacts came through the net, with the remainder being people I met through the Endgame minicons.

Boo! to the single choice poll. I need multiple choice! :)

There is only a limit of 10 options on this forum when you make a poll...if I had it my way, there would have been a few more than that.

Thing is I have more respect for all the people that introduced themselves in-person. (Hi Zachary, JoeWolz, C.W....etc....)  I suspect there were a few more that were either too shy to speak up at Gen Con or might have been holding a grudge about arguments or debates that I forgot about.

Heh... I passed the jail but wasn't sure it was you outside it (damn klingons all look the same...)

I'd already met a smattering of posters before I got online. JoeWolz and Brantai are two people that I've gone to school and gamed with, for example, but other then that, I haven't met anyone.

If there was a meetup fairly nearby, I'd try to go, though.
God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.

off subject slightly but how many of you are relatively close to the Indianapolis, IN and surrounding areas?  In other words, how much interest would there be in arranging some kind of get-together now or in the next few months?

Cincinnati is within 2 hours driving time of there. (depending on speeding, road construction and /or obeying the speed limits) So, yeah I'd be interested.
