This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

No, it really isn't.

I've started a thread on American Exceptionalism.

Ice cream cones. The history is a little sparse, but apparently it was an impromptu invention during a World's Fair or something. Mind you, the person in question was an immigrant, but see previous comments about America's knack at importing talent. (Thank you, Von Braun)

Thin-cut French fries. The original fries were probably Belgian, but the modern thin frozen fry is almost certainly US in origin.

Whole fried clams. I don't know what the world-wide distribution of this is, but they are fucking delicious and it's a shame they don't seem to have been popularized on the west coast of the US. Bah. Clam strips are an abomination.

Car touring. I'm not sure if this technically originated in the US, but families jumping in a car and seeing the countryside was a Movement in the US in the early 20th Century, spawning things like drive-in movie theaters, drive-in restaurants, and so forth. The US has a very strong car culture that is somewhat distinct from that of other countries.
This forum is great in that the moderators aren\'t jack-booted fascists.

Unfortunately, this forum is filled with total a-holes, including a bunch of rape culture enabling dillholes.

So embracing the \'no X is better than bad X,\' I\'m out of here. If you need to find me I\'m sure you can.

Were not potato chips invented in a restaurant in the US as well? And if you don't think those are a great thing, well, I'm sad or you. :p

I THINK so. There's a lot of random food tech that was spurred on by the fast food industry in the US.

Fast food doesn't originate here; earliest 'fast food' were stalls in ancient Rome, I believe (and possibly earlier), and sushi originates from fast food vendor places in Japan. But a lot of the modern fast food elements (from technology to procedural stuff) was heavily shaped by the US.

I watch a lot of food network.

I included the American System of Manufacture, which includes the production line, so I've got you covered.

Ironically, potato chips, IIRC, were not produced from "fast food." It was a traditional restaurant that served them - by accident or some such.

I'm going by an admittedly older and fuzzier memory than..well...I recall...
