You people are crazy.  This series is absolute genius.

Of course, for me a big part of the fun is watching the events and characters and playing a mental game of figuring out what events or historical persons from the War of the Roses the author was thinking about at the time.

Quote from: Ghost Whistler;543229The last few episodes have been better, but an hour long episode can't accomodate all the different points of view. That episode left out Dany and Jon Snow completely for example.

That was the point with Blackwater.  It was the first time ever that an episode was set entirely in a single place.   Which is part of why it had such an effective impact.

You don't know how right you are.  I haven't read the books either, but I feel pretty confident in thinking at this point that of all the characters, Littlefinger is the one most based on the Earl of Warwick (only without any battle-prowess).

I understand that, but the problem isn't the way they've made the show, it's the story with too many characters.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I'm re-reading them (on the 4th, now) and I really recommend them to you.

I read all of the books, although it took me 3 tries over the space of several years to get more than 1/3 of the way through book 1.  Once I did, I was hooked, though.

It's all basically "One Life to Live" with dragons and stuff.  I went into it expecting a soap opera, so I haven't been disappointed.  I love watching the show to see how they translated it to the screen.

Still and all, I really hope Martin wraps it all up before he kicks it!

I would be interested in hearing what you figured out.

the ice zombies were pretty badass. I would like to see more of them.

The Traveller

I'm fatigued alright, fatigued waiting for the next episode to come out! What the hell is this crap, ten episodes per season? I have to wait till April 2013 for my next fix? What happens if one of the cast has an accident in the meantime? Or falls ill? I'd better watch over them, moving silently in their shadows, watching, watching, always watching...

I love GoT. The sex and violence is authentic. The panorama and scope awesome. The sheer cynical power play is great.

BUT.. The books do eventually bog down into an inching forward due to the breadth of the sagas. I hope the Tv version breaks from this, since the fifth book almost made me abandon it all!

YMMV

Without spoiling the show Littlefinger is a powerbroker for sure but he has a host of backstory issues that clearly differentiate him from any historicial characters.

Most of them are extremely obvious.  Littlefinger's manipulation of the court at kings' landing was pretty much like Warwick's manipulations of parliament and Richard of York. Robb Stark marrying this girl instead of who he was supposed to is pretty much exactly what happened with Edward IV, so I would predict that from there it will lead to a crucial ally turning against him and internal conflict in his own ranks.  And I think that Danaerys Tygarean is meant to be Henry Tudor, which leads me to think she'll win in the end.

I suspect obesity triggered heart failure will win in the end. The runner up will be whomever they hire to finish the things.
