Since no one made a userful reply I searched fo australian methane powered cars.
After getting hit after hit for the movie "Beyond thunderdome" I finally dropped the ref to Oz and just searched for methane powered cars.
Lookee here:
http://www.truehealth.org/volvomethanecars.htmlLet's see, they cost a little more than a regular car, but cost 20-60% less to operate than a "petrol" car, methane refills are commonly available in europe and the damn things emit about 25% less greenhouse gas than regular cars. Oh, and methane id a renewable energy source, in fact it could be processed from the tons of pig manure that go untreated in "battery pork farms" that have replace family ran pig farms lately and aren't required to process their pigshit like the family ran ones were.
So why the HELL aren't we seeing these things all over america yet? The slightly higher initial cost would quickly be offset by lower fuel costs, and we could give tax incentives to people who use these. Hey, let's go all the way and make a methane powered hybrid! Damn, that ought to be a car that the planet would just love!
(Sits back and waits for someone to call me bigoted against gasoline poiwered cars.
