This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Does Anyone Recognize This Symbol?

Quote from: KoltarDoes it really matter if we recognize it or not?

Does it improve our RPGs in some fashion? (probably not.)

Does recognizing those squiggles get any of us a bigger paycheck? (again probably not)

If you two just like insulting each other ....I guess thats your form of fun.

- Ed C.

Ed,

Nobody takes it seriously, nobody gets hurt or even annoyed. Instead you have a laugh. Yeah, Brasky and I traded insults, but I wasn't actually, you know, insulted, and I would have a hard time believing that he was either. And yeah, exchanging good natured insults is fun. Whereas you're post is:
1. Not funny.
2. Insulting with the actual (failed) intent to insult.
3. It may also indicate that you are using your anus to hold a pickle, or some other brine related vegetable  product.

I hope that helps, because, man, that's what I'm all about, the helping.

Quote from: AosYeah, I started out laughing at those guys but in the end, I felt real pity for them, even the crazy red neck.
What did they say in the documentary?  Something like 3000 Real Dolls sold?  Honestly, as weird as they may be, I would have figured a higher number.  I also figured Ed would have appreciated it more.

I thought they said 10k dolls world wide. Still a pretty low number.
I bet they'd do a klingon too.

These products aren't "new" - HBO did a story about them over 7 years ago.

Real people are more interesting.

The symbol is from a game/contest. For yesterday's step, we were trying to understand a symbol left at an imaginary crime scene.  Brasky was just seeking outside help.

That documentary is about real people.  That's the whole point.  Somehow these guys, either for real or because of profoundly complex psychological denial, seem to have found a substitute for real people in their lives.  It's at once completely freaky and yet you can kind of understand it, which is what makes it so disturbing, at least for me.

That's how I feel about it as well.

Why the quotation marks?  I never said they were "new".  And i'm still surprised that you wouldn't find them more interesting.

A few years back there was a fellow who was selling off his custom blackish-dark-purple-skinned, white-haired drow mock-up.  Like anyone is going to want to buy sloppy seconds.

I dunno, Ian. It could be rationalized as real life.... most girls now adays are someone's sloppy seconds...

Plus, The idea of having a drow doll in my house... and I have no "use" for a girl doll! ;)

Fabulous!

Back to the topic, the image in the center reminds me of Aleister Crowley's right eye. 6 may be a six-shooter and powerderless may of course be a type of ammo.

We are all someone's cast-off baggage. :melodramatic:

Last I heard, the company making them was branching out to include more masculine accoutrement.

In a moment of morbid curiosity, I researched RealDolls. The weirdest thing I ran across was a Japanese company that sold life-size anatomically correct Rei Ayanami RealDolls, with costumes for them.

So I don't think a klingon one would be that far out of the question.
"Meh."
