This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Just like it says on the tin.

I mean, what do you say to that kind of stupidity? The ship is called Slave-1. Boba Fett is an asshole who disintegrates bounties. (Unless asked not to by guys in black armor) His ship name is supposed to be awful. You don't name your villian's ship the "Inclusivity!"

More straws for the camel's back, I suppose.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Renaming it to INCLUSIVE-1 would be a good move, reinforces that inclusivity and slavery are interchangeable.

I recommend the response "Disney Delenda Est."

But Inclusive-1 is pretty awesome.

If Disney finds the word "slave" so bad that they have to remove it, I'd like to see just how much worse they can make the dialogue from TPM regarding the status of Anakin & his mother. I wonder if it will be as amusing as when Hancock is edited for TV and "say asshole one more time" becomes "say psycho one more time."

Maybe they are like Grandmaster from Thor ragnorak, and prefer the term, "Prisoners with Jobs" as he finds "that other term" so troubling?  I really thought that was a good jab by a pretty woke guy about being SJW about words.

An internet petition to change the name to Uyghur-I would probably infuriate Disney.

Now it's just 'Boba Fett's Starship'.

Sigh. Some days I can't tell if these people are running a grift, or if they really are so pathetically thin skinned that the mere mention of slavery makes them cry and crawl into a carton of ice cream.

The answer is both. The thin-skins influence the grifters to be thinner skinned, and the grifters influence the thin-skinned to give them money.

There is some level of precedent for this--back in the 1980s, the Executor was marketed simply as "Darth Vader's Star Destroyer," IIRC. Maybe it's similar thinking that 'slave' is too grim a term to use for marketing to kids, although given what they're being taught as history, that's tough to square.

Or they could be preparing a contest to suggest the new name for the Slave 1 as a promotional stunt.
"Meh."

Hilarious when you consider how frequently people though his ship was the Execute-er (a sloppy saying of executioner) and have no idea what executor means.

Not sloppy, just archaic. So there's a good chance it was deliberate. But definitely agree most fans were unaware and probably just thought it sounded right.
