This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Wow.

10 new Star Wars properties, 10 new Marvel properties, and 15 new Disney/Pixar properties.

Star Wars:
  • The Acolyte - Live Action Disney+ series
  • Ahsoka - Live Action Disney+ series staring Rosario Dawson
  • Andor - Live Action Disney+ series starring Diego Luna
  • The Bad Batch - Animated Clone Wars spinoff set in the early days of the Empire
  • A Droid Story - Animated R2D2 and C3PO series
  • Lando - Live Action Lando Calrissian Disney+ series, Donald Glover not yet confirmed to return
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi - Live Action Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen to appear as Darth Vader
  • The Rangers of the New Republic - Live Action Disney+ series
  • Rogue Squadron - Live Action Theatrical Movie directed by Patty Jenkins
  • Star Wars: Visions - Disney+ ten episode Japanese anime anthology series

Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and The Mandalorian are supposed to intersect in a "climactic story event".

There is more, obviously, but I can only process so much.

They've also announced another Indiana Jones theatrical movie starring Harrison Ford.

Chadwick Boseman's role as T'Challa will not be recast for the upcoming Black Panther 2.

A new Fantastic Four movie is on the way from Marvel. Hopefully the fourth time's the charm.

Captain Marvel 2 has been officially announced for summer 2022.

Well, I thought the Boba Fett series was going to be terrible, but it turned into something good.
Still, I can't shake the feeling that that's because of Jon Favreau specifically, and the coming lineup of new Star Wars stuff is going to range from mediocre to terrible.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

I'm quite dissapointed with not re-casting of T'Challa.
Sure they could kill him and replace him with his sister later as Tech-Panther, but this will just be sort of disjointed.

I think it's a good idea. One of the better things about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in contrast to the comic book universe, is they're letting people age and retire. There's a lot they can still do with Black Panther and Wakanda without T'Challa, and Chadwick Bosman might have been hard to replace anyway.

I think they should have recast T'Challa. It would not have been disrespectful, and there are a number of roles within the MCU that have already been recast, with generally positive results.

IMHO it would have granted Chadwick Boseman a small portion of immortality as the role he originated lived on.

Also, there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that will appear on Disney+ in 2022, to be filmed at the same time as GOTG3, written and directed by James Gunn.

There will also be a series of Baby Groot shorts to appear on Disney +, entitled I am Groot.

It's one thing when characters dies in a film, another when the actor die offscreen.
Bit pity they were not aware of this later, they could give him heroic death in Endgame maybe.

I was all for Chiwetel Ejiofor - despite him having his role already.

How a character dies isn't as important as how other people react to his death. This creates some real narrative opportunities, for instance starting a film with someone saying "T'Challa is dead!", and then exploring not just how and why, but the consequences.

Maybe, but it also eliminates an iconic and very well received character whose stories they had only begun to tell. It will also mean that Black Panther is dead in the movies, but alive and well in the comics, which creates issues when adopting comic storylines into future movies.

They also got rid of Cap and Iron Man, and Thor isn't coming back. They can tell plenty of Black Panther stories without T'Challa being alive.

Less adapting comic storylines the better.

I believe that they have said that Thor will likely be in the next Avengers movie.

I could easily be out of date. I have no compulsion to learn everything about a movie before I see it.

Uh, how many movies did Cap and Iron Man headline or play major roles in, compared to BP?

Let's see... (pulls off shoes so he can count on his toes too) ... three Iron Man films, three Captain America films, four Avengers films, one Spidey film.

BP appeared in four films: CA: Civil War, Black Panther, Avengers: IW, and Avengers: Endgame.
