I dug Cloverfield...I really, really liked it right up until the "money shot" with the monster.  I could have gone the whole movie without a clear, up close, daylight shot of the thing.

It didn't ruin it for me as bad as, say, the stand-off with the alien in Signs, but yeah.

As for shaky cam..I'm okay with it if there's a reason for it in-move...like a character in the movie filming.  If it's just being done for "effect", it usually loses me.

I finaly saw it too. I was bored out of my skull for most of it but there were a couple moments I liked, one was the culture shock between the survivors who emerged from the tunnels and had no idea what was going to happen next and the medical staff who were oblivious to the possibility that anyone could have no idea about it.
 
Don't remember the other good moments, but I thought it succeeded as an experimental film.

I didn't spot it until I saw it on an HD television. It's barely noticeable.

A good monster flick. Had its flaws, but a damn sight better than the American Godzilla.

I really liked the entire concept of a giant moster movie from the point-of-view of normal people caught in the middle of it. I probably would have liked it more without the hand-held camera gimmick, but still thought it was interesting. It's probably one of those movies with so many hidden easter eggs and clues that you'd need to watch it several times to spot everything. Abrams likes to do that, apparently.

The scene when they get to the medical clinic and the medics suddenly realise that one of them was bitten by one of the parasites is hardcore.
