SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What will happen to all the G+ RPG Communities when G+ is Killed?

Yeah that article was swiftly hammered when it came out.

G+ has revolutionised everything RPG related for me. What would happen if it went down? I shudder to think.

They've recently explicitly allowed use of fake names, not that you couldn't get by the restrictions earlier.

Not sure if you can change the name of your existing account. Plus, I want my name on stuff I share with friends & family.

Well, the idea would be to keep a separate profile for RPG stuff. Not that it'd do a world of difference by now.

How so?

I'm curious to know what G+ offers over forums, blogs, and websites.  I've dipped into it a few times (I'm even a member of a few 'groups'), but it's always struck me as a mess (hard to find/refind particular discussions; discussions/posts not organized chronologically; etc).  I find discussions started on forums or blogs far easier to follow, participate in, and return to later.

I suspect I'm missing something, but I've never been able to find out exactly what that is.

As far as I can tell, nothing, besides using the same profile for all the Google-owned sites.

G+ is one of those things that made me realize that I'm old. I just don't get it.

Facebook is like AOL for the internet

Twitter is like CB radio for the internet, only text.

But G+? I don't get it.

Also don't get what the big deal Tumbler is. Isn't it just like a blog? Why is that suddenly a big deal again?
