This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Still here, still alive, at least Seven years now...

Thanks for posting that. There are a couple of minor errors that I noticed: Rail Baron was published long after Roberts left Avalon Hill AFAIK, and the company was taken over by Monarch Printing, not Parker Brothers. (Much later, it was sold to Hasbro, which by then also owned Parker Bros. I believe.)

I had no idea what Roberts did with himself after giving up AH; it's nice to read that he had even more success with another geeky pursuit.

So many things Avalon Hill participated to gaming...

He sounds like a fantastic geek and person in many ways.

Diplomacy is probably the board game I have played most over the years, and I still cheerish the (old?) Avalon Hill Edition I bought some 15 years ago.

That and that crazy Empires in Arms campaign I was part of a couple of years back, all good Avalon Hill stuff.

Tactics II is probably still my favorite board wargame I've ever plain.
