This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Several players have told me that my Crypts & Things campaign reminds them a lot of the UK comic Sl'aine.

Which trade paperback should I begin with to read more about this "Celtic Conan" from the publishers of Judge Dredd?

Well, if you want to go with collections in order of original Prog publication:
Warrior's Dawn
Time Killer
Slaine the King
The Horned God
Demon Killer
Lord of Misrule
Treasures of Britain
The Grail War
Lord of the Beasts
The Books of Invasions: Moloch and Golamh
The Books of Invasions: Scota and Tara
The Books of Invasions: Odacon
Slaine the Wanderer
The Book of Scars
Brutania Chronicles I
Brutania Chronicles II

There were original, older collections, which then were reprinted, some are hardcover, some softcover, most also have a kindle version.  As to what are the definitive, best, largest versions, etc. I have no idea, not deep into the 2000AD arcana.

You might want to start with The Book of Scars, it's kind of a "30 years greatest hits" retrospective from what I understand, but I haven't read it.  If you intend to read the rest, it might be too spoiler laden.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar
