This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Yep! That's another good one.

Quote from: Spinachcat;831614I highly recommend METABARONS if you are a fan of science fantasy like Dune and the wilder, weirder side 40k. Metabarons is dynastic scifi via Greek tragedy created by Alejandro Jodorowsky who is a madman and visionary.

A second vote for the weird, but totally cool Metabarons. I like the art, a style which reminds me of about 50% of the work that shows up in Heavy Metal.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

No graphic novel quest is complete without the Watchmen, but you must have read that already, you just must have.

I would like to recommend a.k.a. Richard Stark's (Donand Westlake's) Parker filtered through the cool minimalist retro silk screen style of Darwin Cooke.

If you can find and afford the books, the Lone Wolf and Cub series by writer Kazuo Koike and artist Goseki Kojima. It was made into the some damn good 1970's  movies too.

Jodorowsky and Moebius' Blueberry. Excellent spaghetti Western written by the best France had to offer.

Frank Miller's Sin City yarns are awesome and of course, his Dark Knight Returns that, along with Watchmen, almost single handedly got Hollywood to sit up and take notice of comics and put real money behind them.

Many Many more, too many to count. Oh My God, I didn't forget my favorite, Mike Mignola's Hellboy did I? No way, I could never do that...

Also Garth Ennis' Preacher books are a phenomenal accomplishment.  Too many to count. Comics are better than movies, much better. too many to count, I'ld better stop.

Battle Mad Ronin

People have already mentioned the power duo of Jodorowsky and Moebius, let me add 'The Incal' to the list of recommendations. Surreal sci-fi that has inspired hundreds of others, beautifully done in Moebius' unique style.

The Corto Maltese stories (see my avatar) by Hugo Pratt vary quite a bit in structure and (in my view) quality, but the best of it is among the best comics I have ever read. I particularly like the African stories, The Celts, Fable of Venice, and Tango. Hugo Pratt also wrote Indian Summer, drawn by Milo Manara.
