It was dumb and had explosions and sexy girls.

What's wrong with you people?!?!!!

I saw it today on Blue-ray and thought essentially the same thing. I mean it's not the greatest movie ever, but it's no League of Extraordinary Gentleman either. We renamed Scarlet, Joe Spice, though.

As an aside- after using the same 19 inch TV for ten years, my wife and I decided since all we ever do with the thing was watch movies we should upgrade to a set up better suited to that task. So we saved our pennies (well, we actually had the pennies, but we're cheap, so we saved up until we had them again) and bought a 40" HD TV with a blue ray player and a surround sound bar.

I doubted that DVD was all that much better than VHS, and I doubted that Blue Ray was all that much better than DVD. Suffice to say, I was wrong both times- but more wrong the second than the first. Also, a good sound set up really, really fucking adds to the experience.

Happy New Year.

Quote from: Spike;319573Why the hell didn't they start using the 'cobra commander' until the very VERY end of the movie? And 'Destro'... who wasn't really 'Destro' at all until... again, the VERY VERY end of the movie???

Two words here should suffice to explain this for you. Hasbro. Sequel.

Netflix rocks! I liked bits in this movie. The Baroness story arc was actually really good. The acting was unfortunately a perfect fit for Mystery Science Theatre 3000. The super submerged base totally cool, as was the GI Joe Egyptian base.

I found the sinking Ice rather disconcerting as well. Totally ruined the suspension of disbelief.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

Agreed.

They need to replace Channing Tatum, though. He has all the charisma of a potato.

Quote from: Werekoala;319569FOR FUCK'S SAKE STOP IT WITH THE GODDAMN SHAKEY-CAM ACTION SCENES!!!!! JESUS CHRIST, THEY HAD GUYS SITTING STILL, NOT SHOOTING, HAVING A HEATED CONVERSATION - AND THE CAMERA WAS WIGGLING LIKE IT WAS BEING RUN BY AN EPILEPTIC STANDING ON A PLATFORM MADE OF JELLO!!!! FUCKING HELL, HOLLYWOOD, STOP IT RIGHT THIS GODDAMN MINUTE YOU FUCKS!!!!!  I PAID $12:50 OR WHATEVER OUTRAGEOUS PRICE THIS FUCKING TICKET WAS - TO WATCH A MOVIE! NOT TO HAVE TO TRY TO PUZZLE OUT WHO WAS PUNCHING WHOM AND WHO IS SHOOTING AT WHAT!!!! HOLY FUCKING CHRIST, ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

Now back to your regular movie review.

Thank you!  That is enough to make me not see it right there.  The shakey-cam crap seriously annoys me and almost ruined Star Trek, Quantum of Solace, and other movies I don't even remember now.  BUY A G-D TRI-POD AND SHOOT THE !@$@$ MOVIE YOU PRETENSIOUS WANKERS.  TRYING TO MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT THE CAMERA MAN IS IN THE FIGHT SCENE TOO DOES NOT MAKE IT MORE REALISTIC, IT JUST GIVES ME A HEADACHE.

Well said sir.

Hmm. I guess that's a matter of taste then. I didn't notice it at all. Maybe I'd get more upset if they did it on the cleavage shots.

Really? "Really good"? Are you fucking kidding me?!! Let me guess, you thought Transformers 2 was a good popcorn movie too. Un-fucking-real.

I am actually considering using Channing Tatum as sort of a Canary. Any action movie he is in, I won't go to see. Boring as hell to watch is only the least of his sins.

As I understand it from a magazine article I read when this thread was fresh, he is something of an anti-war pacifist and actually insists that they re-write his action scenes so he doesn't offend himself. I paraphrase, of course.

In other words, there is a very good chance that he actually makes the movies he's in suck worse than just having him as a boring dude.  Dude. We are paying you to ACT.  I'm sure he's perfectly okay playing straight guys in movies, what's wrong with him playing violent guys?
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Transformers 2 was a massive disappointment. The Baroness storyline delayed the explosions, but provided more cleavage, and is therefore a wash.
I realize that this analysis my be a bit too intellectualized for many of you, but I refuse to dumb things down. Admire and aspire to my level of integrity.

I dunno.  I was figuring, maybe, the Baroness' cleavage transformed into something like an evil bookshelf or something.  I've seen weirder things in bad movies.

No, no.....shaking cleavage shots would be fine.

Actually, I may have more of an issue with it because I suffer from vertigo and all that shakey camera crap makes it hard for me to look at the screen at times.  In Star Trek I couldn't follow a few of the fights scenes because of it.
