Well, I picked living dictators. Past "candidates" could have included Idi Amin, Bokassa of Central Africa, Papa Doc Duvalier, etc.

     Nah.  No style.  You could say a lot about the other candidates.  Take Gadaffi.  Sure, he's got the harem of female bodyguards.  But man, ever see pictures of them?  It's all shapeless military uniforms.  Where's the kevlar-reinforced latex jumpsuits that mold to every curve?  Where are the jetskis equipped with machine guns and rocket pods?  Turkmenbashi is one of the few who gets it when it comes to production values.  Forget ubiquitous photographs of the dictator.  Old school.  Giant gold statues that revolves so it always faces the sun is a sign the Great Leader believes in providing entertainment value for his subjects.

     Does anyone suspect that Kim Jong Il is, in fact, deliberately modeling himself on the Bond villains?  He is a huge film fan with an appetite for Western movies.  Maybe he actually wants to be Dr. No...

     BTW, there's a book out there called _Dictator Style_ that showcases the...er...home decorating taste of various dictators.  Turns out that the appallingly bad taste discovered in Saddam Hussein's palaces isn't an isolated case.  Somehow, dictators tend to be either very bourgeois or else have an affinity for stoners-with-an-airbrushed-Valkyrie-on-the-van art.

I really don't get the sense of a "benificent" dictator from any of these nut-jobs.  I mean ... is it too comic-book of me to vote for Victor von Doom?  Setting aside the armor, mongo-technology, etc., he's got that undying paternal love for the people of Latveria.

That ... that's powerful stuff there.  I'll definitely want to emulate that.

I just wanted to comment on how the 'Other' Catagory is now the clear leader by a comfortable margin...

And that just ain't right. If I was an insane benevolent dictator there wouldn't be an 'other' catagory. Of course, if I were the BD then there'd be only the one choice...me!;)
