SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are your ears ringing?

We're being discussed over on that place I don't think I'm supposed to name.

Probably best not to notice (in fairness, though, that discussion is how I found this site.)

Really?

 Thought your handle looked familiar.....

....now if I could see ViperGrrl suddenly register here, I'd finally have someone on here that would talk to about nBSG.

I found it amusing that Darren MacLennan got offended. The guy who calls people cunts gets offended, that's beautiful :)

Eh, I figure that anything that can be done to help direct like-minded people (such as you and I, gentle reader) to this site rather than that place will only better us in the long run.

Note: I only read, like, the first two pages of that before getting downright bored with the "oh, but they say hurtful things," crap and laughing at those fools/pantywaists before having to go do productive things around the house, so I don't know or care where its gone from there.

If this is the "wretched hive..." then I got news for the gits over yonder; chicks dig the bad guys hands-down over the farm-boys.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

As one guy said, in the actual wretched hive of scum and villainy, it wasn't that nasty, really. I mean, the rogue PC and the wizard GMPC were the most violent people there. The NPCs looked nasty but really were pussycats.

Oh, yawn.  I was just going to post a (hopefully) thoughtful response to that thread, then I realised that any gesture of defense of theRPGsite is going to be interpreted as desperation.  So, what's the point?*

If someone is going to Google up threads from a year or two back and foist them up as evidence of how things go down now (and, yes, that includes any of us Googling up weird-ass RPG.net mod-shit from a couple of years back), or cite their distaste with the rampant negativity that holds court (and, yes, that includes the sublimated negativity that still runs beneath the moderated surface at RPG.net), then bets are on that a fair and open discussion was never on the table to begin with.

[*Edit: Well, looks like I saw some point in it anyway. I posted to the thread over there.]

Well, go ahead and believe it, but ignore it.  As I was suggesting in my post above, both sites (and pretty much all sites like these) can be tarred with the same brush.  To quote an old Japanese proverb: "Every worm to his taste -- some prefer nettles."

I thought the phrase was "are your ears burning?"

Or maybe the implication is one get tinnitus from RPGnet yelling so loud?
