This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are your ears ringing?

Quote from: pathar;237505Stalking is one of those crazy new crimes where you become really obsessed with someone to the point of following them around and threatening them or calling them names for no apparent reason.  Online stalking, which is the implication here, is what happens when you do that but instead of following them in real life you just show up wherever they can be found and spout hate in their direction for no reason.

So you mean like what Jeff2345243 does to me?  Isn't that what we have ignore lists for?  My question was what is Stalking in the context of RPGPundit's sudden new mod powers, because he capitalized it so it sounded like something official.

RPGPundit

Its nothing new, Walker. Its been established that if someone is going around following another poster and harassing them in ways that are unrelated to the thread they're posting in (ie. the way Nox had been going to every single thread Koltar was on and throwing insults at him for liking GURPS), or if someone is writing repeated attack-letters to someone on PM, etc etc. then this is considered a disruption of the site.

Its a credit to this site that thus far I've only once had to do anything about this kind of thing; because most of the times its enough for posters to get that this kind of behavior is not really either helpful to their "cause" or considered acceptable activity here.

So basically what Jeff2343234 does to me.  Yeah okay.  I just thought that was acceptable behaviour on the site.  I put him on my IL, but if I'm going to get called on it, then I'd like to report him please.

Don't be a pussy, walkerp. Pundit is full of shit, this isn't "stalking" by anyone. Just tell Jeff to go fuck himself, put that racist fuck gleichman on your ignore list (he rarely has much to say about rpgs these days, and this will only get worse as the US Presidential election comes along) and post to some rpg threads.

Hey, guys?

Isn't it time to let this thread die? You can continue sniping at each ohter in a new thread if you'd like, but even tbp has let their thread like this go.

Actually, it turns out he's not a racist. Whether or not he's a fuck is left to individual interpretation. [I think he is, but it doesn't bother me.]

So Kyle is still going on about this. Man, I must have seriously damaged his ego somewhere along the line. Since I don't remember it, it must have been really easy to manage.

With him now being the only one after Walkerp admitted the charge was a lie, I'm rather enjoying how much damage he's doing to his own rep at this point...

Your response to your detractors reminds me of something ... someone I've seen somewhere before ... online, flame wars, that sort of ... oh!  I've got it!  You remind me of myself!

I think I've reached the point where that's possible.

If however I hadn't responded, walkerp would be continuing his slander and added to Kyle's with no one contesting it, it would have become a known 'truth'.

I'm something like offended that you feel that way, gleichman, because that's not at all what happened.

Well, it's not just, "qui tacet consentire videtur," it goes on, "ubi loqui debuit ac potuit," which is the open question in this case. Still, if I can ignore Pundit, you can ignore them.

You have my heart-felt apology. You and some others here did indeed contest the matter.

In any case, I'm ready to take everyone's advice. The subject seems well settled and I only noticed this because Kyle's statement showed up quoted by another. He's long been in my ignore list.

I dispute your cause and effect statement.  Protesting when someone calls you names does not stop them - it feeds the fire and gives them more opportunity to call you names.  Ignoring someone who pops up on every thread with random accusations they refuse to prove doesn't create "a known truth" or for that matter "a known 'truth'" - it creates a situation where the name caller slowly looks dumber and dumber.  Hint: you can even take an active role in this when someone asks you what it's all about (because eventually someone's going to get curious) by simply brushing it off - "Oh, that's just my personal troll.  Don't mind him."

As to the other, the 'silence gives assent' rule is intended for cases of social injustice.  Someone calling you names is not a social injustice.  Someone calling you names is, in fact, nothing more than someone calling you names, which is really more of a 'silence is golden' sort of situation.

We're going to have to disagree.

Unless of course I'm to assume the Nox was a great guy done a serious injustice here for example.
