This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, this music would be appropriate:

And speaking of Nazis, Godwin and all that stuff.... someone pass on to Mr. Mclennon that it was here that he agreed with a poster and compared Pundit to a Nazi:

The text:

That's the sort of insult cartoon Nazis use.

What's your point?

Ah, actually, that was Darren quoting me, I'm afraid. I was referring to the use of the word "swine", which struck me as sort of...outdated, I suppose, like something a cartoon Nazi would say in a show from the sixties. I did not mean to suggest that RPGPundit follows the ideology of cartoon antagonists from what are to me ancient days.

Actually, Axiomatic, his usage comes from Hunter S. Thomson, I believe.

What kind of things gets a person kicked off of rpgnet? I rarely post, but when I do, I come across as harsh, and somewhat crass. I mean, I've been on the internet close to 18 years, and only just recently got booted from a BBS I've been on since 1991, and started my own a few months back. Just wondering if rpgnet suffers the same brand of worthless powerfisting that ISCABBS does?

Dunno what the fuss is about - seemed pretty civil, in the main. Probably one of the more well-balenced threads about this place that i've seen at RPGnet. Luckily, we've been following suite, in the main, recently about there.

And there we have it folks, just as predicted: the thread was making theRPGsite sound too attractive, and demonstrating results in people going there, and the Mods felt it was failing at propagandizing theRPGsite as a shithole, so of course, they locked it.
If it's any consolation, the locking will probably give 'em something to argue over in Trouble Tickets for the next few days until they decide to lock the thread there, too.

Welcome, new dudes.

If you get a chance, go on up to the top sub-forum and see how the RPG talk actually is here.

And you definitely want to check out Zach's GenCon thread if you can't actually go (like me :().  It's the next best thing!

So I made the leap.

Got a question: I want to do a homebrew mash-up between two games, one which I like for the setting, one for the mechanics. Where do I discuss how to do that?

There's this section called Roleplaying Games at the top of this site's front page......

As long as people are posting here, I just joined (having heard about the site from the thread under discussion). I'm always up for visiting another good RPG game site. :)

Darren's little threat to lock it earlier was the signal that unless it very quickly turned into an opportunity to ban RPGsite-supporters or to have a more unbalanced shitting-on of theRPGsite, the mods would have to shut it down, and they did.

Like they always do when the truth is winning out.

RPGPundit

I knew they were gonna lock it. :) And I hate to say it, Pundit, but you're right. If the rpgnet mods were really smart though, then they should have just ignored the thread. They gave it more power by trying to crush it. For the life of me, I can't figure out what they're afraid of. That thread was a little tense, but relatively civil.

Oh, and welcome, new guys. We don't bite hard on the first date. Promise! ;)
