This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

For your interest, a snippet I found online at the LRB site:

I mean, what straight middle-aged brother has not attempted to regenerate himself through the alchemy of young pussy and . . . Beli had some of the finest pussy around. The sexy isthmus of her waist alone could have launched a thousand yolas, and while the upper-class boys might have had their issues with her, the Gangster was a man of the world, had fucked more prietas than you could count. He didn’t care about that shit. What he wanted was to suck Beli’s enormous breasts, to fuck her pussy until it was a mango-juice swamp . . . As the viejos say, clavo saca clavo.

Yeah, there's a lot of hot women in the book, very well described.

I'm keeping this thread alive until everybody on this site has read the book, Koltar.

Okay , but if you show up at my door with a copy...you're going to have to sit down first, catch your breath, then have a drink before I start reading pages of it.

Thanks for the link Engine, but holy shit was that the worst interview ever.  How do Americans put up with garbage like that?  5 and a half minutes long and Colbert allows him like 4 phrases.  Pathetic.

That's reasonably common on The Colbert Report; Colbert sometimes seems a little anxious, and it makes him over-talk. Rather than set aside the persona for the sake of the interview, sometimes he sets aside the interview for the sake of the persona, likely unintentionally; sometimes, this upsets the interviewees, although you'll notice there are no shortage of them, since interviews such as this aren't really for an exchange of information, but rather for publicity.

As for how Americans put up with it, I can't answer that question, but they probably do it more-or-less the same way Canadians [and the English and Irish and Australians and Filipinos] do.

No, most Canadians do not put up with shit like that.  We like our interviews to be informative and penetrating.  This kind of weird pandering to the audience is strictly an American phenomenon.  I understand the Colbert is also a humour show, but it's basically the way all the talk shows are run, ever since Carson.  I mean most Americans think that Charlie Rose is a good interviewer.

Many Canadians indeed do put up with shit most precisely like this; the reason I mentioned the nationalities I did was because those are nations in which I know the Colbert Report airs. [On both CTV and The Comedy Network, in Canada.] I suspect "most" Canadians do not watch The Colbert Report, but neither do most Americans. I don't think your nationalism is, in this instance, particularly justified.
