This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Need to create a campaign map? Want to layout your own game product? Have no money? Adobe is GIVING away its suite of CS2 products. I just downloaded and installed Photoshop CS2 on my 4-year old MacBook Pro and it works great! Here is the link:

I'll have to try them. If they don't work in Windows 7, they'll work in my XP virtual machine.

I have CS3 on Win7, so I'm sure CS2 would work.  Damn though, thanks Adobe for making that free after I paid $1200 for CS3 when it came out.  Can I get a refund...
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Only legal/applicable if you already own a license:

QuoteThere has been clarification since this story broke. Adobe has not released the CS2 software for free. Instead, it has cancelled its CS2 license management servers, so for those with existing licenses it is now offering downloads that do not require contact with the licensing servers. This service is only going to be available for those with existing Adobe CS2 licenses, which will be verified when creating the Adobe account to download the software.

Sorry dudes.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

Sorry dudes.

May not be strictly 'legal' but I downloaded and installed with no Adobe account or license. Worked fine for me.

Apparently no one told their webmaster, downloading it right now, serial number is up on the Adobe site, no login required.

They also have Photoshop Elements if the full version is too much program for what you need.  All the CS2 programs have separate dloads as well if you don't want the whole suite clogging your computer.

Wow you can get Photoshop Elements 4/5 for free too? This is cool!

OK. Forbes reported it, as well as a myriad of other websites, but apparently the intent was never to release CS2 for free. It's for people who already have a CS2 license and want to reactivate their products, because the servers have been taken down or some such.

It's a marketing ploy.

The servers are still up, you can still download the software for free, you can use the serial number, however, you can't do it legally without a license (even though there is no way to stop you from doing it illegally).

Basically Adobe is providing software for free without "legally providing software for free", ie. getting people to use older Adobe products instead of the host of free tools and cheaper competitors that have been steadily eroding Adobe's marketshare.  It's an advertising campaign in an attempt to gain marketshare.

I'll stick with Inkscape and GIMP. Don't need Adobe.

I love how the Forbes article changes its headline and emphatically states that this is only for previous license holders but then continues to say that these downloads are for free and posts the link to the page with the serials.

I'll be interested to see how this all goes down.
