I've been playing the new Magic: The Gathering game for the XBox. It's fun, but the AI really needs to learn to concede.

Last night, I ended up getting a stranglehold on the game. The AI played an artifact that gives creatures of a similar type a bonus. I played a card which created a bunch of Wolf tokens and then ended up with about 12 different creatures that were 19/19.

Since I had won by that point, I decided to see how much damage I could inflict in one round.

I played and played. I got one of my creatures up to 120/120 - it had Power and Toughness based on my Forests and I beefed it up with an Enchantment that added to Power and Toughness based on my Forests.

I waited until I had a couple of Overruns and then went for it.

The AI started at 10 Life and ended up at -610 Life. I dealt 620 damage in one round.

Can you tell us more about the videogame itself?

There's a game on Xbox Live - I couldn't find it for the Playstation. It's $10-$12.

As near as I can tell, there are three different modes of play: player versus player, player versus AI, and challenge mode. In challenge mode, you're figuring out puzzles like those in the old Duelist magazine.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you're stuck tweaking the decks that come with the game. You unlock decks and cards as you play, but you can't build your own from scratch.

The music and sound effects are annoying.

It's entertaining. I'm happy with what I got for the price I paid.

Huh. Turns out, the WotC staff have done so, so much better.
