This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Somewhere I still got this movie RPG ("Extreme Vengeance"?), and one possible plot I came up with involved the guy from "They Live" (Rowdy Roddy Piper) revealing the existance of some leftover aliens to Jack Burton. Those aliens basically are the big cheese of the PRC... They Live meets Big Trouble in Little China meets the Matrix meets other Carpenter movies...

For me, one of the best things to come out of the 80s was Toto's "Africa". God, I love that song.  It'd goy the hint of adventure, far-off locales, a peaceful nighttime undertone...love it.

"Extreme Vengeance" is a beautiful, underrated RPG.

And I played a character named Antonio Machísimo.

That said, I've used a few New Wave references in gaming through the years, and in my current D6 Space game moreso than usual. There's a guy named Nik Kershaw, who captains a pirate cruiser aclled the Human Racing;
I bet it would be good to be in his shoes, even just for one day.

I can rarely listen to Zeppelin's The Lemon Song without imagining a hot cyberchick and a vatgrown ninja stalking each other around a derelict skyscraper end ending in a savage, stylish melee. I sometimes wonder if St Bill of Gibson got inspired by the same song. A lot of the Cult's Sonic Temple LP is good CP theme music for me too.

If I ever run anything set in the Vietnam war, I've got an entire MP3 playlist sitting on my hard drive, dominated (unsurprisingly) by CCR. You just cant beat the eerie opening of Run Through the Jungle or their atmospheric version of Heard it Through the Grapevine for imagining nervous GIs patrolling the bush

Hell, I still remember this one fondly and once wondered if I could work it into a role playing game :

I am quite interested in the new Rambo film, and I hope that the trailer doesn't misrepresent the film.

I'm wary of said film. So far the trailers haven't much impressed me. But I am patient.
