This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What's up with the new titles?

I'm not complaining about being a 'keywalker', and I might even be looking forward to being a 'barb blaster', 'master cleric', 'graduate', a 'server tilter', an 'internet vet' or even a 'filcher'...

...but what's up with all that?

Have they changed? The title you have is based on your post count and the class you pick in your profile.

I personally think psion has the coolest stuff, at least for the last few titles I've had. I didn't pay much attention before that.

Quire

I only noticed it today, but then I do spend most of my time in a LitFan(TM owned by Glaxo) induced fugue, imagining I am various forms of documentation.

I'm pretty sure they have been the same ever since pundit took over, probly before then.

Quire

Oh, okay. That's intriguing because up to the day when I asked the question, all the titles (as they appeared to me) were typical default ones for a vBull forum: Newbie, etc.

How odd. I'm a web developer by trade, familiar with vBull and PHP, and I can't think how that would have happened.

???

Never mind. It was an idle query, regardless.

PS thanks for your reply!

I think the first few levels might be the same for everyone, so if you only happened to glance at people with the same class or very low post counts they might all appear to be typical defaults. Other than that I can't think of a way it would happen either. There'd have to be some sort of code in the background showing you different titles than everyone else sees.

A day or two ago I had "knows how to hide" I think in reference to someone's shock at my having still been on rpg.net in scurrilous guise.  Today it's "brute" which may just be a standard level or a comment on something I said.

Just flipped through all the titles I could  have and psionicists are definitely broken. Options for others included King for Fighters and Pirate King for rogues. Dragon King of Athas doesn't even notice when it accidentally steps on the rest.

Quire

Aha! Different titles for different classes/post counts! Of course.

D'oh!

Are there new titles past 2100 posts? I've been wondering what's a psionic step up from a Dragon King of Athas. Although, I'd be kinda sad to no longer be the ultimate defiler.

Either the system has a bug at 2,103 posts or that last post of mine triggered an admin's mean streak. I'm guessing the latter, given my history with certain admins.

It appears my class title has been stolen. LOL
