This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I dislike all the negative comments about me.
I love RPGS I do, but I am afraid that I don't know enough about the base RPG  to use this revolutionary idea. I would need some help and frankly none of you seem like the type to get along with me long enough to work on a project. Expecially of this magnitude.
Base RPG=D&D
Look my idea was to create a massive forum based D&D Campaign spanning across many worlds, planes, etc... It would have unique content and probably some unique rules. Obviously since I have little experience in the game I would just be a creative mind with out help.
We would need a way for dices to be rolled in a way the is cheat proof online.
I would be more useful for OOC stuff (RP term meaning out of chracter.), but it really applies her well then IC stuff(In character) as far being staff duty is concerned. Like enforcing rules. The rules of the forum not the rp.

That sounds neat.  I think there are similar things at ENWorld -- maybe you would like to check out their 'living worlds' forums?

(I'm not trying to drive you away or anything, but I think you'll find a wider audience for a massive game at a higher traffic site.  Plus, I believe ENWorld has stricter rules regarding politeness than this site does.  That said, if you stick around here, welcome to you.)

rpol.net also has a play-by-post system in place capable of handling something this large.

The big problem I see is that this will need a ton of GMs. Online GMs are very hit or miss. Some put in way more work than they'd be expected to, but most get bored or discouraged and wander away very soon. If you've got an entire world of people interacting with one another and a GM disappears, you could have the whole system come crashing down as people start having to wait.

It's doable, just hard. And I doubt you'll find anyone ready to do all the work for you if you're just wanting to be an idea man. Most GMs who love to work their butts off are also overflowing with ideas of their own and don't have time to set up everything they've created, much less everything someone else creates.

There's a Shadowrun website that does something like this, although it might be a MUSH. It's been going for years as far as I know, covering multiple editions of the game and spanning continents. I tried to google for it but it didn't turn up. Asking for it as dumpshock.com's forums could get you some results as well as some interest.

Not to be rude to you but what you've just described has been done for quite a while now and by dozens of forums.

And -very important- it's not a bad idea.  It's good.  Fine idea.  Lots of fun for a girl or a boy.  It's just not new, or revolutionary.

I get the feeling that it's new and revolutionary to you, though, Revolution, and that it excites you.

And that is a great thing.  Rock on!

"Balls"?  Being showy and shameless takes "balls"?

There's a lot of posturing here. Thing is, if you're going to climb up onto a pedestal, the people here will pelt you with rotten vegetables. So you've got to be able to stand up on that pedestal while being pelted, or else get back down onto the ground.

It's just words on a screen, after all.
