This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

VPN Access
« on: April 15, 2019, 10:06:34 AM »
Whenever I use my VPN, I get the following message:

Code: [Select]
You do not have authorization to view this page

You have tried to access a page on this site which is not available to you for one or more of the following reasons:

The software you are using to access our website is not allowed.

Your web browser's user agent (Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0) is not allowed.

Your web bot is not allowed.

Your IP Address (108.59.0.38) or IP Range has been blocked.

You have made an illegal call to this web page.

Is there any reason why the site would block users with VPNs? Thanks.

Because, VPN is a huge source of attacks and spammers. Sorry.

Not gonna argue with you about this, but that's a very poor response.

EDIT: I'll point out the notification screen seems to be generated by IIS. If you're really worried about attacks a spammers, Windows Server isn't a very good platform.

It's not a Windows server. And the last time I tried to work with someone to give him access via VPN, he shit all over me. I don't have time to worry about people with attitude problems.

As a test, I logged into my VPN on my phone and don't have any issues viewing the site or making a post (this one).

It all depends on the IP range being used by the VPN.

I've got a similar issue. Is there a guide on how to solve it fast?

It's and older thread but I have a few tips for people who might still have the same issues.  This can happen for a few different reasons.

One is banned, fjejgiei has to explain why he shouldn't be banned.

Got it just now with this link and so far only that link?

I got the message yesterday with that link and without a VPN. Like someone else mentioned, some sort of false positive.
