SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ottomsoh the Elderly

Since this is about RPG, I took the name of a weird NPC in my D&D campaign. I hesitated between my sphinx druid and my psionic goblin James Bond, and went with the latter.

Nicephorus

Still Nicephorus, which means bringer of victory.

Boring pedantic details follow:

At one point in Nutkinland, it was Nicephorus Pedanticus but it was too long for one of the board versions and was a pain to type for logging in whenever I lost a cookie.

The name was inspired by the Byzantine emperor Nicephorus Phocas, who was a good general but paranoid and lousy leader.  It's also the name of one of my more memorable characters, a half elf druid who Really liked animals.  Through the course of in-game jokes, it became known that he could hide largish objects in various orifices through "druid relaxation techniques" including an iron flask of Bilarro.

It was also a dusty know it all character in a pbp which is where my original avatar came from - I'll have to track that down.

Dr_A, I have to tell you...when I saw your full username, I thought you were a guy from ENWorld. I think the username is Dr_Awkward or something.

I'm so glad you're not him...

Weren't you Nicephoras before the Damnation Army?

Quote from: Maximum FuNot to be cryptic, but have fun while you take some time to poke around the board and some of its threads and you'll find all you seek.

Were it me, I would start in longer threads in the RPGSite.com forum.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help.  :)

Damn, your spot skill is good.  I originally did that so that the ending was different that Pedanticus.  At one point, I opted for the correct spelling.

I'm often awkward, but never doctored in it. ;)

We are Redcap.  The voices in our head tell us to kill, but Pooka tells us to moderate the RPG forums.

We listen to Pooka instead of the voices.  For now.

Need to know info.

Our name comes from our habit of dipping our hat in human blood.  We feel that that should answer the question.

BOZ

actually, i thought you could have Seelie Redcaps.  of course, i haven't played changeling in nigh on some 10 years... but that's besides the point.  ;)
don't quote me on that.  :)

Their extremely, extremely rare.  For a couple of reasons, first of all Unseelie redcaps utterly despise them and hunt them down at every opportunity and second the Seelie redcaps like to fight against impossible odds.
