I think that if a poster is banned from discussing a certain topic, and they're respecting that topic-ban, then it shouldn't be allowed that people taunt that poster about the topic. If nothing else, it's unsporting.

We have, as far as I know, only one poster who is topic-banned - mythusmage. He's being taunted by J_Arcane here in the monster thread about that stupid fucking AP of Poison'd. Nonetheless this is a general issue. We might possibly say that mythusmage is skirting the edge of his topic-ban, I'm not sure, I don't recall the exact details of it.

I think that it's fine to ban someone if we don't like their company, but if we're topic-banning them and they're respecting that, it's just rough to taunt them about the issue. It would be better to either prevent the taunts, or just out-and-out ban them, rather than keeping them around and taunting them.

I agree. The provocation is really not helpful.

I'm sorry, but there's certain levels of hypocrisy I just will not fucking tolerate, and it goes against the stated principles of this site that I not be allowed to speak my mind in response to such audacity.  

This whole handling of the issue has a creepy "sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened" vibe.  This is a forum that prides itself on free speech, not the Catholic Church.  

If you're going to ban the creepy fucker, ban the creepy fucker; you're the one with all those words written on the subject of "lawncrappers". But I refuse to stand by and let the fucker dare pass moral judgement on anyone.

I very much doubt I'd tolerate Mythusmage at my gaming table or as a social contact; but a lawncrapper on here is someone like Nox.  The latter actually DID something that would have made him banworthy.

Now, again, if Mythusmage were to start posting all kinds of stuff on different threads about his erm... ideas?, then that too would be grounds for me to ban him.  The fact is he hasn't, he's been completely compliant with the rules I set for him.

So you can see its a difficult situation for me.

No Pundit, I won't post about such things. Neither to defend or condemn, for I know how some people would react, and how sensitive other people are about them.

I have clinical depression and generalized anxiety disorder. if not for the medication I take I wouldn't even be able to engage in posting on the Internet. Even with that medication it is very hard for me to go out in the real world and interact with people.

You meet me in person don't be surprised at how different the real Alan Kellogg is from the fellow you read on-line.

The difference between you and I is that I understand myself. I am capable of moving on. You came to a conclusion about me based on something I've acknowledged was stupid and hurtful and wrong. Something I have corrected and gotten past. You're still hung up staring at a flattened bug and muttering about the guts. Isn't about time you got on with your life. Or are you going to let it fester to the point you need to be locked up for your own safety?
