SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any volunteers?

Quote from: JimBobOzBut... it's the Nutkinland/Nothingland loons hosting it. So they'll wait until you get a few hundred members and plenty of posts, and then wipe the whole thing out one day in yet another senseless reorganisation. Those guys are to rpg forums what the scifi channel is to tv shows!

Whatever we may think of (for example) rpg.net, at least we know the forum will still actually exist tomorrow. What about this one? What guarantees do we have?
...and while I don't like being called a "loon" he's got a point. The sooner RPGpundit can find permanent replacements for me and for Pooka, the better. Pooka because he doesn't have the time to spare anymore and y'all need someone with his skills, and me because after 5+ years of running message boards I'm just too damn tired.

I want RPGsite to exist tomorrow, and I want it to exist the day after that. Otherwise I wouldn't fucking be here. Spending my Sunday afternoons deciphering vBulletin is not my idea of fun, but until someone else steps up I've got no choice.

So if you're a friend of RPGpundit's, someone he already knows he can trust, and you think you can help out behind the scenes -- reply to this thread ASAP.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what\'s on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

RPGPundit

And significantly, if you're someone who has some prior experience with vbulletin, etc etc.

Anyways, I figure that after these initial "growing pains" we should be set up in such a way that Pooka can retire from adminship into an occasional consulting role, and that Gruff will be able to slip into a semi-retired coma from which we rouse him with arcane rituals only when there is a technical problem beyond my knowhow.

Still, if there is anyone with a decent knowledge of running the technical side of a Forum (with vbulletin), that thinks they would have the time and energy to become a regular admin, feel free to suggest yourselves.  Just don't think of it as some kind of vaunted position. Unlike other Forums, being an admin/mod here will have FUCK ALL to do with being part of some kind of special elite clique; nor are you the "cops" of this site, since we don't go around shutting down speech here.  You'd just be a "tech guy".

Considering that, and with the ego stuff out of the way, if any of you want to do this in order to actually be helpful and not go on a little power-trip, please step up and help get things running smoothly.

I will consider all potential volunteers.
