This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: VarajSomebody please explain to me what exactly a story hour is?

A story hour is a log or description of the events in someone's game.  They are not short stories or pure fiction, but the results of game play.  RPGnet calls them 'Actual Play' threads, and ENWorld has a Story Hour forum.  Same deal.
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

Ahhhh.
Should a pure fiction story line be blog or Collaborative Works?
  1. A robot may not harm a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
   2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
   3. A robot must protect its own existence, as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

It's a continued report on dramatic events happening somewhere, usually centered on a small group of persons directly involved in the whole crisis.

NPC-schtick off:

It's someone writing down as a novella his RPG campaign. Usually it's done by the GM, but not always.

ENWorld has a whole forum dedicated to them.

Varaj,
We have had an ongoing Story Hour written by Dshai527 and Enkhidu.  Ours reads much like a novel but it is not necessary.  It's based on what happened in the game.

Question for Pooka and/or the other Powers That Be:

If I want to have a companion thread for my story hour, so that one is the story itself and the other is a meta-game analysis and on-going commentary - does it make more sense to do two of the article-like story hour suckers?

Or one for the story hour and one that is just a regular thread and provide links back and forth?

Do you know what a pooka is?

Yeah, but I wanted to be sure, since I one point you said that you would not be using the Pooka-schtick in this forum. :D

I guess the two "article-style" ones makes sense - as the meta-version will only be updated with each complete session or so, and it make take two to three updates in some cases to get one full session up in the narrative format.

Thanks.
