Yeah, i was making my way through the thread and following up reports about Silva (which we've had lots of going back 6 months and more) trolling pretty much everyone in the thread, including DW's author, i should add. That alone should inform people that Silva wasn't posting for anything but shits & giggles. He'd been doing that for a long time, but due to his style, i think most people (including the staff) were putting it down to naivity, a lack of knowledge about what he was talking about generally and English not being a native language.

It became apparent over the last few months that none of the above excuses really applied to him.

He had been warned by Pundit several times, and as most posters of that type do, saw it as a challenge to push more, rather than a warning to do less.

The thread in question was indeed the straw/camel/back deal and as i was following up multiple reports for multiple posts and given that he wasn't going to change after multiple warnings over a long period of time, i took each report as it came and commented on them.

The "i warned you" can be traced back to the warnings that Pundit has previously given him, not necessarily to the posts in the thread.

I very rarely report anything that isn't spam, but in this case I reported silva.  Not because I was offended, but because 1) trolling with image macros is against site policy, and 2) I honestly was flabbergasted that in like 600+ posts no one had noticed that he was transparently trolling both sides of the argument.

I simply pointed this out, along with the fact that the chosen image (trollface) was more or less a direct admission of what he was doing, and he even proved the point by keeping it up from there.

I really just expected a threadlock since it had clearly gone off the rails, but given his behavior recently I guess Pundit and OHT decided otherwise.

silva's ban was predictable and overdue.
